DivaDance® NYC: what do users think?

Melissa Bryant: I did a basic bachelorette party package with them and the experience was great from start to finish. Samantha was really helpful and responsive when I was trying to arrange everything, and our instructor on the day Katelyn had great energy and made us feel amazing. Ten out of ten!

Yaniza: I absolutely love DivaDance! I’ve been going to their classes for years and it’s always a fun time. It’s welcoming and the choreo is just the right balance of challenging and easy. I just had a premium party with them and was totally blown away! Every detail was perfect from the decor to the choreo to the friendly and energetic instructor and host. My friends are still talking about it! Highly recommend the classes and parties 💕

Lucy Zhang: What a wonderful experience!!! The instructors are great and I feel more confident after every class. Thank you for helping me live out my dance dreams!

Emily M: DivaDance is so much fun!! It’s the perfect combination of dancing and socializing in a really welcoming, friendly community. The instructors are so upbeat and talented! They cheer everyone on and make each class so exciting. Everyone is really supportive of one another and the choreography is so fun to learn! You definitely don’t feel like you’re exercising. The hour flies by and you don’t want it to end. I look forward to classes every week!! 💕

Erika Espin: Joining DivaDance has been so fun. It feels empowering and it’s a confidence boost learning a new choreography each time. Would definitely recommend to anyone!

Sandy Dai: This is the type of dance class I've been looking for. Dancing has been a designated hobby of mine, and I love how DivaDance operates. You can choose to go at your own pace, whether that's being a member or dropping in freely as a non-member. Signing up through the website is also straightforward and easy. Each time I've been, I love how challenging yet super fun it is! I always love the amazing choreo the instructor comes up with to a variety of bops. Everyone that I met so far there has also been super welcoming! I love that DivaDance emphasizes community. If you're looking to dance/work out/start a new hobby, DivaDance is perfect for just that!

Malaika Noel: Welcoming environment and talented instructors! You get to learn varied and creative choreography in different styles and levels of difficulty. I’ve been a member for three months and it’s great for exercise and fun.

Giovanna Cristo: it’s such a good time being around other women who share my same interest in dance xoxo

Priya Sharma: Amazing experience!

Gabriela Lara: Absolutely love the atmosphere and the staff. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming , and responsive with any concerns you might have.

Kendall Bowers: I honestly wasn’t expecting to fall so in love with this hobby but this is what I have been looking forward to during my week. Everyone is so kind, welcoming, and I love that it is for dancers of all experience levels. I have my fingers crossed for some pop up dances or recitals soon!

Davvy Damou: Love there style look forward to working with them

Jyothi Nair: DivaDance has been one of my favorite NYC finds - thank you TikTok! I signed up for a 2 week trial to check it out and committed to the monthly membership after my first class. These classes are truly for EVERYONE at every level, the choreography is so much fun and exactly the right amount of challenging, and the instructors and other dancers are so warm and welcoming. It’s a comfortable and inspiring environment and I love that their mission is to build confidence and community.Take a class, you won’t regret it!

Amanda Droll: in a big city, it can be hard to find a community and make new friends but diva dance makes it so easy! They are welcoming from the moment you walk in the door. The dance classes are super easy to follow and so much fun! You walk out of every class feeling confident. I highly recommend diva dance to anyone who is looking for a fun adult dance class and a place to make new friends!

Yvonne Lawson: When are you going to open one up in Piscataway NJ, you will have a lot of clients! I already know 20 people who will sign up immediately!

Foxy Fitness and Pole Training Studios: what do users think?

Sara McClain: Great place to practice whatever you like. Very welcoming atmosphere. I always leave feeling more confident.

Julia Mondello: amazing Classes and incredible Teachers ! Loved each and every one of them !!favourite pole dance studio here in NYC ! **

Ben Adams: My wife went here and really learned how to ride that pole. Love having her dance for me and move her body. Thank you Foxy Fitness$$$

Rose Ramirez: I really enjoyed the class yes that they have available

Martina Ruseva: I have done two classes at this studio and they have been so fun! You can go in with no experience and you will get 1:1 attention from the instructor who will teach you something, make sure you are doing it right and then you will keep practicing it on your own while she works with the other girls until it’s your turn again. I like that approach because some of the girls in the class are very advanced and others are beginners. The studio is clean and you have your individual bottle of alcohol spray to clean your pole and make sure it’s not slippery. I would recommend wearing shorts and a sports bra to class and also recording your self, so you can see what you look like and what you need to work on.

Mimi: Terrible service and poor business practices. I came 10 minutes late and assumed I may not be let into the class, which is understandable. As expected, I wasn't let into the class, however, the justification wasn't because of a time policy it was due to "me not being able to catch even the last 30 seconds of the warm up"If that were the case, I proposed to do a warm up in the corner so I could join the class, but the instructor declined. They privately let me know it was due to them wanting to be able to cover themselves with insurance in the event of an injury so they could sign off on the fact that I "attended the official class warm up" and they wouldn't be held liable.Additionally, I found out from a friend who attended the class that there was no pole safety discussed during the warm-up, it was your basic stretching and light exercises to get the body warmed up. Mind you, there were beginners in the class who never used a pole before instructed to just swing on the pole without proper guidance. Please be mindful of which studio you decide to start/continue your pole journey with because it will greatly impact your affinity toward the hobby. I only attended this studio to support a friend as she started her pole journey, but the only way I would come back is by being dragged against my will.I've been going to Body & Pole for a few years now and their customer service is fantastic, supportive, and transparent. Highly recommend them over Foxy Fitness any day!Cheers and good luck.

Dominique: unfortunately I was very excited to book a class but had a very tiring experience, without even participating. I arrived 14 minutes late, due to not being familiar with the area & it being my first commute. I came late & was told I wouldn’t be able to partake in the class due to the instructor almost finishing stretches. I was told I would have to pay $15 to gain a credit that I can use another time. It took the whole joy in the experience away, also knowing my travel and efforts to make it were no taken into consideration. None the less, i wasn’t able to take the class but do hope others that participate enjoy it.-Dominique

Marilee Arcila: Excellent place

S Todd: I used to go to Body and Pole whenever I visited NYC, but I am a convert to Foxy Fitness ad Pole. Instead of overbooked classes and rude instructors, Foxy offers really great, more personal instruction that focuses on each student/client.

Claudia Addison: Amazing! Just had my bachelorette party here yesterday and we had so much fun! There were 11 of us and there was plenty of room! Wasn’t bad at all for only having 5 poles because we all took turns and were able to watch and rest/drink/snack in between. Cassie was our instructor and was super friendly, fun, helpful and experienced! Wish I lived in NYC so I could come here more often. Highly recommend!

Mallory House: , and was confirmed for my new date. I called back the same day to let them know I was adding an additional person to my reservation and THEN she said we owed a $50 rescheduling fee, which was NEVER mentioned or stated on any flyers or ANYTHING after my sister had COVID. What kind of business does that? The manager was an idiot - didn't know his business's policies

Mina Mina: Probably my favorite spot to learn pole at here in the city. I'm still beginner and I love how intimate the classes are. You get one on one time even in a group class and you're always asked what you want to work on and they make it a little more challenging every time!

Jerome Melsaun Warren: I had a great experience great instructor lot of fun

Samantha Curtis: Welcoming, enthusiastic teachers! Great comraderie amongst students.

Miranda Sofia: Foxy is my home away from home. I've been a student here for two years and I am shocked at the strength and agility that I have learned. Not only is this a place where I get a work-out and connect to my sensual self, but I found community here 3 10 stars. I've tried other studios, but I stick with Foxy. Best prices and a great time.

Logan Swietz: It was so much fun, the instructor was awesome and very encouraging. Looking forward to the next class!

Body & Pole: what do users think?

Joanna Rivera: I love the variety of classes, the supportive instructors, and the overall body positive environment. The best thing for me is that all my fave instructors continue their own pole journey and education adding onto their what they can teach their students. I come all the way from Sussex Co NJ to learn from you all and it's worth the trip everytime.

Rachel Landau: The studio is clean, well organized, and a very warm and welcoming environment in which to learn and meet new people. Rommel is a force of nature! He is immensely talented as a pole dancing artist and a teacher! I will definitely be back for more classes :D

The Yarn: I really enjoy the teacher and the class was fast paced and never got boring. Great thing to do with friends, so much fun and would highly recommend.

Keanna Hines: The instructor was great and learned some cool tricks. Also the studio was beautiful 😍

Cosette Nunez-Valarezo: I sprained my wrist badly on one of the spinning moves. Wrist swollen and unusable. Seeing a Hand specialist for x-rays. Instructor did not pay attention to form. Would not recommend if you have the slightest wrist instability.

Hannah Turner-Harts: Butchie’s intro to pole class was so much fun!! Definitely would recommend 🎇

Queen Esther: I love body n Pole. It is a classical aerial, silk, hoop and pole school. It's clean and they hv evening classes for those of us who work past 5:00 pm.I love how you learn choreography when learning Pole. I DO NOT like spending $45. Per pole class and then we hv to share a pole. So, the class is 1 hr and 15 min. The breakdown. U stretch for 17 minutes and then u are In, either group A or B. So technically u only get 20-25 on the pole😡sometimes less because the lovely instructor has to verbally then physically demostrare the move. This is greed on body n pole part. No other school I attended make us share the pole.

Yasmine: Hit or miss with instructors. Not all are encouraging or welcoming. Some instructors come off as condescending and almost seem like they are perfectly content watching you struggle with new/difficult moves. I had Hannah today in Hoop Fluidity and it felt like she didn’t care that much about anyone’s progress - I was probably the most inexperienced in the class, so would have appreciated a little more kindness/support. For the first time in any aerial class, I wasn’t motivated at all and felt uncomfortable trying some of the moves after she just watched me struggle without really helping.I don’t love the vibe and energy at this studio but there’s nowhere else really to go in Manhattan. Also think it’s odd you can’t videotape yourself the entire time— it’s hard to remember what you’ve learned if you can’t watch it back later on! I’m not sure if it’s related to privacy but that doesn’t make sense to me since they allow you to film at the very end of class. I started learning at Miami Pole down in Miami and it was a much friendlier vibe, way more encouraging and supportive for all types of students. Such a bummer a similar type of studio doesn’t exist here.

Asmaou Diallo: I had a great workout. I would recommend ti friends and family

Candice Robertson: Stella was an amazing instructor. She took her time, allowed us to explore our sensuality, and boosted our confidence by separating the moves in stages, making it easier to execute. In the end, we were able to get some basics down and have a great full body workout.

Sumi Yu: Soooo much fun!!! Will definitely be back!

Geisselle Lopez Munoz: . Leave early to get there on time, it’s as simple as that.Anyways, Dey is super accommodating and has such positive energy! A few of us were there for the first time and he made everyone feel so comfortable. You do need to share a pole

Tim Phil: Bad experience! Full of attitude

sydney s: everyone here is rude and unhelpful i came 2 minutes late because i went to the wrong class and they made me leave and wouldn’t refund my money. but when i was trying to figure out where to go all of the workers straight up ignored me.

Lexi Pritchett: was phenomenal- he is very sweet and thorough. I felt safe attempting the positions, and received very good instruction as a beginner!

Lidia G: Gina is a great teacher who is flexible enough in her lesson plan to take student requests and accommodation needs into consideration. She’s always willing to look at ways to help students get a move down and is upbeat and encouraging. The facilities are high quality, having large and well spaced piles, multiple studios and locker rooms, and fun lighting options.

Paula Oleska (Brain Upgrade Systems): I love Body and Pole classes. All instructors are great and I loved Rommel!

Cumbe: Center for African and Diaspora Dance: what do users think?

Mentes Alertas: Fun

Nae P: I recently discovered this gem and feel grateful that I did. When the new week starts, I can't wait for Saturday to come to dance Kompa and be led by Julio and Robenson. Since dancing at Cumbe, I feel more connected to myself and my culture. Thank you 3

Tonika Custalow-Stuart: From the moment that I walked through the door, I felt welcomed by the staff. I was greeted and checked in promptly. I was extremely excited to be there for Youssouf's class as he is my favorite African dance teacher. The drummers were on fire, and the atmosphere was electric. Thank you for offering a great start to my 2023. I look forward to returning. Peace & Love

Kohcoa Kibibijaweta: The staff here was pleasant and knowledgeable. I had a wonderful West African dance session with Darian Parker. I will definitely return again, for the experience

Landry Kouajiep: The best african class I've ever had. Jimena is a wonderful instructor, the drummers are passionate and the class is soooo energetic. Will visit it again next time I come to NYC!

Reniya Brooks: I love this place. It's a wonderful studio and has many optional forms of art of dance. We need to get this out there. The fact it's in the heart of Fulton Street.

Nicolle White: I had an amazing time, only thing is no heat in the studios.. its very important that dancers b provided with some heat to help circulate blood flow as well as to stay warmed up and not cause any muscles spasms or cramps. But overall great teaching from their guest artist .

Maxine Hamilton: I took Orixa dance with Tony Yemaya, who was so patient, warm, and encouraging. He welcomed questions and broke the steps down for us so we could do the choreography with confidence by the end of class. Most importantly, I appreciated that he taught us about the energy and significance of Oyá so we could better embody her through movement. 💙

Jessica Ho: I love this school! The classes are great, teachers are amazing. I also really appreciate that they are making classes affordable for the community while also taking precautions to keep staff and students safe by staying virtual for the rest of 2020. I have learned a lot from them and am always inspired and motivated to keep dancing because of their energy and their spirit.

Ernso Anicette: Positive:Quality

Laura Mollica: The west african class was just amazing, the percussionists and teacher. Not only that, but all the staff they’re very kind and helpful. The dance room is also super prepared.

C Kuo: This place is amazing. Warm and friendly staff and a variety of dance classes taught by professionals who are down-to-earth. Cumbe is all about community and inclusion. The best of the best in NYC!

You Should Be Dancing...!: what do users think?

Smart Workout: Intermediate Balboa.Bobby and Sara are terrific teachers. In addition to technical skills, Boby creates an environment where you make friends with the other classmates.

Ryan O'Connell-Peller: Love the teachers and the atmosphere/ community. Staff is very accommodating

Tansu Eris: Elena is a great teacher, so approachable, and patient. She really knows how to give feedback gently. I loved her teaching style. Also, the class size was very intimate, and not overcrowded, unlike other places I have taken classes at. I will surely keep taking classes here!

Destinee Cushing: This is the best studio in NYC for swing dancing lessons and dance parties! I’ve been swing dancing for 10+ years and this is the place I recommend everyone go to learn in the city. Plus, their swing dance events with live music especially are amazing! I’m so glad they’re back after the pandemic.

Bobby Ross: We did a private lesson and had a fantastic experience. We did 2 sessions and both instructors were extremely helpful and could help us with exactly our beginner skill level. Would recommend this to people looking for a fun experience with a partner!

Alvester Garnett: The Thursday night Frim Fram dance jam is a BALL! The dancers are great, there's an excellent sense of sharing & community, & this place is fun!

T M: Super fun class! The hour goes by so fast, and I definitely want to take it a few more times to get more comfortable!

Channing Wistar-Jones: Great place for dance instruction and events, in a wonderful new space.

Benswing Rich (Ben Rich - Electric Biker): Love this dance studio! So glad they are back and the new space looks and feels amazing! The floor is gentle on the knees and the whole place feels like a community with fantastic instructors and friendly people everywhere.Glad YSBD is back!

Makie Sanchez: I was a student there in the "before Covid" times and I am happy to see them return. The studios at the new location are slightly smaller than their predecessors, they are well-suited for classes.
