I have not sewn leather on it. But I have sewn multiple layers of vinyl, material, interfacing. Not a problem the machine came with a variety of feet which is excellent value, just want to say than you The Sewing Doctor for the recommendation you where right on point, sure coming back for more sewing machines.

Derek P: We did get off to a rocky start but after being contacted by Robin, the owner, I am proud to say I am extremely pleased with my purchase.I was looking for a specific model number and when I came to pick up the machine/table. They opened the box after I got there so I could see the machine was brand new, unopened and then they assembled and wrapped it for me.I will be back for my Juki 8700.As a business owner myself things happen and go wrong, none of us are perfect but I believe in second chances as I would want one also... They told me it could be fixed in an hour so I dropped off my machine and WOW! I went back 45 minutes later and it was ready! Wonderful service! I will definitely come back when needed
Kathy L north: They state they are experts in Juki home sewing machine repair. My machine, less than one year old, had an error I could not resolve. It is a higher end computerized model. They told me to bring it in for service. City Sewing returned it to me in an inoperable state. I shipped the machine to Juki Home Sewing in Miami. The Juki tech support team were very helpful, and told me what City Sewing did to my machine. Everything , City Sewing did was wrong and created new problems that had nothing to do with the original error. I do not recommend City Sewing to service any computerized Juki machine. Terrible experience!!

a sn: I could not believe positive reviews. I had a very bad experience at this Gizmo shop some time ago. First I had to call him several times, then at last he said that he fixed my sawing machine. I paid and took it home. At home I saw that he just lied to me. He did something superficial which temporary concealed a problem.

Hannah Qin: hossein is the best! he specializes in sewing machines, but he was able to fix the needle threader on my embroidery machine for a reasonable price. it did take a couple of weeks, but that was out of his control as there was some back and forth with his Brother machine specialist and it took a while to receive the replacement part we needed. in general, it seems like there are long shipping times for parts these days. i would trust my machine with hossein any day!

jessy d: I love this shop. I went in there and was amazed to find an original east village shop, the kind that nyc was built by. The owner works his shop, knows everything about machines and supplies, and has really great prices. When you’re doing an art project and suddenly your sewing machine needle breaks there is nowhere else to go but Gizmo. Seriously so many stores that supply creative project items are closing to the big faceless corporations selling burgers and cheap clothes. If you’re looking for a small business to help out during this pandemic I highly recommend this place. Also amazing selection of buttons, new and vintage.

He had my sewing machine for over a month and only call me back because I called him to see if it was fix and if I was coming because he was closings. He actually broke a part that wasn't broke and now I have to find some another sewing machine repair shop. If I didn't check the machine before I left I would have taken it home to find all the things wrong with my sewing machine that we're before I gave it to him. He mess up my sewing machine. A simple fix is now a major problem. DON'T GIVE HIM ANYTHING.
ooo o: I’m really sorry and extremely upset to write a negative review for a small business. Small businesses have such hard time. But this guy from GIZMO returned my sewing machine in the same condition that it was before, still with a scotch tape over a broken part and said that he fixed something inside and this tape is OK and it’s not necessary to fix or replace it. At home, as soon the tape got loose, the machine stopped. So, now I’m with the same problem and out of my money. When the next day I asked him what he fixed inside I did not get a clear answer. He said if I want to replace a broken part than I have to pay more. It may seem like a manipulation to make me to pay more. I do not know who gave him these good reviews. May be he can fix some small problems. Also he is good in pretending to look “nice” and ‘honest”. I do not know why I paid him and took a machine with a scotch tape. For some reason I trusted him that it can work. I was wrong. Of course, I have to blame myself too. When I brought a machine to his shop he did not give me an estimate, said that he won’t fix but replace a broken hand wheel and quickly took the machine to the back of the shop. It happen very fast. He did not give me a receipt but said do not worry he will call soon. I waited for his call for like three weeks and then called him. It took like five weeks to get my machine back. Now I see that I had to insist on a receipt and estimate. But, again, he really learned how to pretend to look “honest” and “nice”. When you carry a heavy machine for like twenty blocks you already invested in it too much and cannot just take it back. So if you cannot find another shop, make sure to ask him for a price estimate and receipt with what he is exactly going to do. It’s a big lesson for me don’t trust people like this. I paid for this lesson and now am looking for another shop to fix my sewing machine.

Aimee O: I want to leave a good review but I let enough experiences draw me to leave this here. It’s in interesting part of the Bronx. I drive pretty far to go get repairs done. I’ve done a few and bought enough business. Despite trying to keep it business the lady owner is pretty talkative so it’s one of those drop or pick up your items and go or she’ll keep you there. The daughter is always there and usually the one who picks up the phone. I’m not a fan of the attitude. I know her name is Nurin and I called to bring some new items for repairs and she hung up and blocked my call. I tried calling from my second phone and it went through and she tried to act as if she did not. I give them zero stars for over stepping business boundaries and making things personal. Also the attitude of the girl. Unprofessional and lacks business etiquette.

I did not know what to expect since I had to go to the 8th floor in this office building. After walking in and speaking with the Manny, he made me feel welcomed and told me some awesome stories. I will definitely be coming back here for all my sewing supplies.

The dress form was easy to put together and I love that it has an adjustable height. I put a dress on it posted a picture and it sold like hotcake. LOL!!! I put that same dress on a hangar and the dress did not sell. I'm getting a male wire form next. Michael was extremely helpful, pleasant, and accommodating.

Couple weeks later, it broke down and these guys just took it back, arranged to fix it, and then I picked it back up within several business days. Fast, no complexities. I'm glad I bought the machine here rather than online because the human tough really helps.

Russell Pierre: I was very fortunate to stumble onto Hector's Sunset Sewing Machine establishment.I looked at about 8 or more places looking for Sewing machine repairs in Brooklyn and because of the reviews ,I decided to give his place a try.He really didn't disappoint me,he's a very friendly ,caring and giving person.I told him the problem I was having and he immediately opened up the machine checked the areas of the machine and was able to fix it on the spot.I waited about 25 mins or so ,and he allowed me to sit and watch him at his Craft.He is very passionate about his craft,he has been working, studying and fixing these machines for over 40yrs.He comes from Columbia and started studying and working on sewing machines at the age of 15yrs.I watched him work on my machine and it really showed his skills and perfection of his craft.He also tuned my sewing machine , replaced a belt and oiled it as well.He answered my questions and gave me some knowledge of about my Singer 328k sewing machine.His prices are very fair.Only thing you have to look for parking ,I was able to park across the street at TDA Bank for 30mins or so.Please support small business like Hector and who knows ,you might also find a friend.Thanks for reading my feedbacks and have a wonderful day.

Asia: Absolutely Amazing!!!!! I am so happy with Jimmy's Service. He is really nice! Before Jimmy repaired my machine, my zigzag stitches would always skip and the thread would always bunch up in the bobbin area. He also explained and showed me how to use the other stitches on my machine, which I have never used before but now I will. He explained to me that my needle plate was damaged and told me how to fix it. I am super happy and excited to sew on my machine again.
Pamela Watt: I just met Jimmy recently. He is such a nice person. Jimmy has been in his Basement location for 52 years; which helps explain the clutter. But he knows where everything is. and can be found there 7 days a week, if he feel's like working that often.I brought him my EuroPro Computer Sewing Machine, actually on the 4th of July. Yes He was there. I picked up my machine yesterday and an so happy I chose him to fix it.I don't need to add any pictures, I think there are enough. And yes that is the way his space looks. kai bussant: Jimmy is a godsend! I called a variety of places to see if I could get my machine serviced as it was jammed and was jammed for a long time. I thought I could fix it myself but nothing I did worked. I called Jimmy and he asked me what were the specifics of my problem. I let him know and he said to save me money he would guide me in unjamming it, that it was simple and shouldn’t require a visit from a servicemen. That I could do it and he’s helped many other unjam their own machines. Here I am today with more knowledge on how to better serve my JUKI DDL-8700 and all he asked for me to pay the knowledge forward and teach some one else. I will be coming back to Jimmy solely for my machine needs. As a small business owner every cent counts and to have saved such a hefty fee in a small fix really means so much. Thank you Jimmy! You are my guy- I will be going to no one else.

Lythia Becht: Jimmy is a real gem tucked away in the nook of 265 W. 37 street. He is very knowledgeable and knows his stuff. My mother came to get her Brother sewing machine tuned up and repaired. Come to find out it wasnt even broken. There was an ignorance on our part and that of our previous repairman's part in knowing how to get the machine prepped properly in order for it to function correctly. The most important thing I have to note here is that he's very patient. He took an hour explaining to us the many features of the sewing machine and how to thread+operate it. If we have any more issues, we KNOW who we are calling.

Annie Murphy: Jimmy is incredible! I took my 15-year-old Husqvarna Viking Huskystar sewing machine to him and he had fixed it by the very next day. It kept getting jammed and I didn't know why. When I came to pick it up he explained to me the structural problem that he had fixed showed me tricks to keep it from jamming in the future. He also showed me how to use some special stitches my machine is able to do, that I had never used before. The machine runs smoother than ever now and I will absolutely go back to him if anything happens in the future. Jimmy is so so so kind, warm, knows everything about every sewing machine ever made...and he is super reasonably priced. So happy to have met him, thanks Jimmy!

Ingrid Blass: I told him that’s what I needed him to fix but instead he wanted to charge me $150 per machine to just look and assess need. Why??? I already knew what my machines needed! Then he would charge additional for buying the items and his labor for each. Thank goodness for Amazon and Google!! That’s my recommendation, save you money!
