Birthing Center of New York: what do users think?

Shanice Jefferson: After reviewing the website I called to potentially start care there as I would like to use a birthing center opposed to a hospital. The staff member who answered said they do not do births there, only obgyn/prenatal care which directly conflicts with their website. It either needs to be updated or the staff needs better training since the services there are conflicted and unknown because that made absolutely no sense.

Sun Shine: They never gave me a chance and refused to take me as a patient. When all 3 of my previous pregnancies have been easy and no problem. I feel excluded and Perhaps even it was racially motivated

Samantha Taysi: We took the all-inclusive birthing course it was definitely a good class to take. We learned a lot about how to deal with laboring and also how to take care of our newborn. We would definitely recommend it to other parents to be. Nurse Jackie has a good personality and a rememberable style of teaching.

Ruth L: My husband and I loved the treatment at this facility with nurse Jackie. We only used the facility to take childbirthing classes and nurse made sure to always stay in contact, always communicate, and be upfront about any question we had. Her class went by quick she was an amazing teacher, even when we stole her Valentine's day. She treated us as one of her own clients and always wanted us to be honest about what we thought. I love that she is open minded and provide both the natural and medical ways because the two can be very different with different topics.

Treasure Neal: Dr Eng and Nurse Jackie are like Batman and Robin of natural birth. They were very attentive before and during the birth of our baby boy, in high contrast to the experience we had at another OB office before we made the switch. And after birth they've been even more attentive. We really feel like they are an extension of our family and vise versa. We highly recommend natural birth with BCNY.

Jessica Molina: . She didn't take into consideration the entirety of the picture- it was breakfast, I had eaten bread, my fasting numbers tend to be in the low 100s so eating bread wouldn't bring it down.Let's not even discuss that Eng's plan of action for my GD was to put me on Metformin instead of trying to control with diet and blood testing first, or that the drs there are not fully versed in diabetes or why GD is different and how to treat it differently or ways in which to prevent sugar from spiking. None of that was discussed with me not once. What bothers me the most is that people will accept their word as bible because they don't know better or have a language barrier. Speaking of language barriers, I called this office because I had a bloody nose I was unable to control and the person answering the phone asked for my bra size. I reiterated that my nose was bleeding and she asked which breast was leaking. I screamed NOSE! MY NOSE IS BLEEDING! and all she could tell me was to call back after 10 when a dr would be there. I asked if there was a way to call the dr and she said no, I had to wait til after 10.For the record, my first appointment was at the birthing center office and all the others have been at their second office on 59th st between 6th ave and 7th ave in Brooklyn. After my first appointment I looked up reviews online and had seen a handful of negative reviews- they're no longer posted online. Let's see how long this one lasts.

Brooklyn Birthing Center: what do users think?

Lauren Crawford: Customer service was great. I had a successful non medicated birth. There was no other patients giving birth at the time, so I had the entire floor to myself. The staff was very supportive, patient and kind. I arrived around 12noon and was 4cm dilated, by 9pm gave birth to my beautiful baby girl. I felt safe and well taken care of. My family was accommodated and comfortable. Thank you BBC & special thank you to midwife Monique.

Amalia Bueno-Lirio: BBC fulfilled my childhood dream of having a water birth. Our birthing experience was truly a dream come true. The ambiance, energy & support were so much more than we could imagine. My husband and I rave about our experience all the time and wouldn’t do it any other way. We also had a doula which I think had a lot to do with our experience. I’m giving 4 stars because I do believe they can be better organized in terms of administration. This was our first child so of course I did not really know what to expect or what tests need to be done and there were times that I’d have to go back because they forgot to do a test. It was a bit annoying and inconvenient since I live in queens. Now that we know what to expect we can be on time of what needs to be done, but we’d definitely come back to BBC

Nicole Quintana: I gave birth on March 29th. I had an amazing experience. I wanted a private birth. There wasn’t anyone else giving birth at the time so I felt like my birth was a very intimate moment. The midwives were so attentive to my needs and my pain. It all depends on who’s on schedule during your birth but I got lucky and happened to get the midwife I was comfortable with. I can honestly say I couldn’t have given birth without her support. They motivated me even when I felt like giving up. Birth was a painful experience. As a first time mom, I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into. I was scared but they were with me the whole time. I can’t speak upon other’s experience but I had a memorable experience. Giving birth is not for the weak. Women are strong beings. Trust your body and trust your team.

Bklyn Mama: to now. For my first delivery, Joanne Middleton was running things and the midwives were phenomenal. Nowadays, from the stoic and miserable woman at the front desk to the lack of consistency with the midwives who range from super sweet to out of touch and cold, the experience just isn't the same. I loved Makeda who is an absolute gem but not yet qualified to attend births. Ivie was also nice

C Bonilla: I had a very bad experience. Being a first time mom I truly trusted the midwife just to get at the end of my pregnancy a lot of trouble just because my belly was huge according to them, even though the ultrasound was providing the opposite information, my baby wasn't big and I never had any health issues during my pregnancy. The day my water broke my husband call the center at 4am just to be told to come over when I wasn't able to tolerate the pain around 7pm when we call again that I was ready to come when I mentioned that the water was a little bit green, the answer was; oh you can't deliver here but you can come we'll check you a and we call the ambulance for you. I didn't make any sense at all when I can go straight to hospital without wasting time. Why they didn't explain to me about the color of the water before? My husband was ready to sue the center in case my baby or me were in danger because of them.

Omi O-take Kurihara: BBC gave me the opportunity to have my dream water birth covered by my state insurance, and there is no other birthing center offering this in the tri state area. The midwives are all very sweet and accommodating - i was disappointed i wasn’t able to choose who i was most comfortable with to assist me during the actual birth, but everyone is knowledgeable and kind.BBC was also very accommodating while I travelled abroad for my job - as long as I called to confirm i would be out if town i never had issues rescheduling. Even last minute one time after i missed my flight.overall, i feel very lucky to have been able to birth here.

Natasha Gabriel: The process of going to this birthing center for appointments was nice for my daughter but when it was time for her to give birth ,I called her midwife and they constantly told me and her over the phone that because it was her first time giving birth it won’t be as fast as she thinks even after I informed them of her water breaking and mucus plug coming out they told me that she wasn’t ready which is insane. We then opted for the hospital which she really didn’t want to but the ambulance came very fast and let us know that she was already 10cm. The baby was literally coming out by the time we made it to the hospital 10mins after calling this center.

Ragnhild Bruland: I can’t thank the Brooklyn Birthing Center enough for taking care of me and my baby in the process of leading up to birth and during labor. The birth team/staff at BBC made me feel safe and confident and I had a natural birth with no complications just like I wished for. I highly recommend the BBC!

Rebekah Rood: I've had both of my kids at the Brooklyn Birthing Center and it was a lovely place to welcome new babies into the world. We had two very different births and both experiences were lovely. The midwives took such good care of us and gave us the space we needed to be cared for and be safe.

Jaelysabel Villasante: Amazing experience! Everyone here is always super pleasant and helpful. Had my first birth here and hope to be able to have any future births here as well. The midwives and rest of the staff are knowledgeable and caring. Highly recommend.

Queen Ravenden: I had a beautiful birthing experience here. The next best thing to birthing at home. Brought my doula, mother, and partner along with my music, birthing ball, and inspirational posters made by my friends and family to place around the room 💕

Emma Rodriguez: , and they helped me have the natural birth I was hoping for. At my first appointment I was recommended the Ina May Gaskin Guide to Midwifery book, and I definitely recommend anyone considering an all natural child birth at a place like the birthing center read that book, and take natural childbirth classes so you know what you're getting into. Being mentally prepared for the experience was very necessary, and something that no midwives can do for you. If you have a healthy normal pregnancy and no complications during labor, delivering at BBC is ideal. It did not feel like a hospital or medical setting at all, my husband was able to be on the large bed next to me the entire time to support me, and I was free to move around and change positions as I wanted to help the delivery process. It was overall a wonderful experience and I would definitely trust them to deliver my future babies.

Beastmode Quis: Both my beautiful daughters were born both really good experiences

Des D: . I go to messages to let them know my frustration and I see a message from someone about 2 weeks prior to this saying “oh im sorry I scheduled you for a day the office is closed” WOULDNT SOMEONE CALL?! And disable the appointment!? Along with the reminders !?!?! I will NOT be going back to them.

naiiya Collado: I went here for my first birth I was so excited I trusted them. While I was there trying to give birth on the day of my contractions. They lied and said that I was 9 cm and asked me if they should pop my water so the baby can come out. I told them yes trusting what they were saying was accurate after knowing that I stopped Contracting my baby didn't want to come out she didn't trust them they kept switching shifts. After they broke my water I had to go to the emergency room. Because my baby stop contractions and the doctor in the hospital told me im 8 cm away and that my baby stop breathing. After delivery my child. They were refusing to release her to my care right away because of the things that were written on my file from the birthing center. They put lies in my record that I had to get evaluated an drug tested n my baby, so my baby can be release to my care. After like a mouth of having my baby. I received a phone call from a center stating that I owe them money because my insurance didn't cover it I told them that I had spoke to the birthing center and they said that sonograms center that they provide do take healthfirst insurance. The sonogram center claimed that it didn't an that they're going to put it in my credit.

Raye Parris: Cannot believe a midwife could be this cold & rude to a birthing person.

Village Maternity: what do users think?

NourishedbyNur (NourishedbyNur): Called these people and asked a simple question about patient advocacy in a hospital birth and the woman had the nerve to say "mmm not sure what you mean?" Really? It took everything in my power not to give her a peice of my mind.

rhoorntje: Responsive and helpful.

Agatha Samudio: to answer my endless questions and always giving us great advice. Also, their patient portal is very helpful as you can check your healthy information and details of what was discussed during appointments

NYC Birth Village: what do users think?

Elaine Davis: Our experience with Connie from NYC Birth Village has been truly remarkable. She has given us invaluable support, care, and relief when we most needed it. We booked her for overnight services and with our newborn baby, she was able to soothe and tend to her with ease - just like any baby nurse would. She also took care of our whole family unit by helping with household chores, playing with our older toddler, cooking delicious home meals, organizing closets and so much more. When she was here, I was able to get the ultimate rest! She taught me how to nurse while laying down, gave me massages, and was there to ensure the baby was nursing well and getting the most intake. It was the ultimate game changer and a whirl of a difference compared to our baby nurse experience with our first born. Connie is extremely compassionate and committed. We are so grateful and lucky to have had her as our doula! She was the best decision we have made for our new family of four and would recommend her 1000%!

Nicole Feirsen: As first time parents, we were looking for all the support we could get, and we were extremely satisfied with the services provided by NYC Birth Village. We had initially matched with one postpartum doula, but when she unexpectedly left right before our daughter’s birth, Narchi was able to fill in for her, and she provided such great support and education for us, particularly around expectations for nursing and feeding. The meals she cooked were also great. We also had overnight services with Marta and Tiombe, which were invaluable. Marta, in particular, was so essential to us maintaining our sanity during those first early weeks during which our daughter had her days and her nights reversed. The entire team was super caring and checked in on us even on days that they weren’t scheduled with us. Highly recommend these doulas!

Ruby Bolaria Shifrin: Karla was amazing! she's super informative, explains things clearly and has a great cadence. Took her lactation course and she's welcoming and warm and makes what feels like an overwhelming experience seem manageable and even fun. I didn't think we'd need 2 hours but the time flew by and I'm sure we could have gone on much longer! Highly recommend this course for first time moms or even 2nd or third if it's been a while since you were breastfeeding!

Rozana al-sayed: I provide 3.5 stars given the experience met expectations to a certain extent. Our doula partner provided good support by being confident and knowledgeable and sharing insightful information and following through with useful tips. With evening and night doula support, the focus is attending to the baby. For the birthing parent, you are not necessarily having the opportunity to self care. For hundreds of dollars a session, I expected planned/structured support that allows you to optimize the opportunity of having expert presence with you to focus on some level of self care and resting. All the ´can do’ capabilities listed as part of the service premise are irrelevant for evening and night service. For the cost of 10 hours shift, you’d be better off with an experienced nanny/sitter. It will be a fraction of the cost for a comparable service. Happy to provide more precise feedback.

Maria Fechtmuller: , and all while emphasizing how important it is to set personal boundaries, something which I admit has never been one of my strong suits. Karla is an extremely empathetic and intuitive mentor, and I advise any doula, new or seasoned like myself, to connect with her. Her guidance is invaluable.

Laura Taishoff: I cannot recommend taking these classes with Kim enough. I came to these classes at a difficult time in my pregnancy; I was feeling incredibly anxious and was really struggling to trust the process. Kim literally healed me! She gave me tons of resources and really helped ease my anxiety. She is knowledgeable and supportive. Again, I truly cannot recommend working with Kim enough. She has been an invaluable support for me and my partner. She also gave great advice about how to support our adorable dog with transitioning to life with a newborn so if that is a concern of yours, she is a fantastic resource. Thank you for everything, Kim!

Sarah Smith: Danielle is amazing! She was my husband’s and my postpartum doula for our first child. I was new to the idea of doulas and was not quite sure what it would entail, but Danielle far exceeded our expectations and now I think all new parents should seek out postpartum doula services. It was always a relief when it was one of her days to come over since she was great at helping feed and sooth our baby, show us essential baby care techniques, help my body heal from childbirth and aches from nursing, and also help tidy up baby things in our apartment - all in 3 hours a few times a week. She was also very fun to chat with at a time where it is hard to get out of the house to meet with friends! Danielle was easily trustworthy so we had her do an overnight visit early on. We were able to actually sleep through the whole night and did not hear cries from our baby since Danielle was very alert and engaged in caring for him.NYC Birth Village was very professional and easy to contact and work with. We felt safe with their covid precautions. All in all, they provided an excellent service and their 6-week doula plan was the right amount of help we needed, compared to the other doula agencies we looked into.I highly recommend having Danielle be your postpartum doula! We miss her already, yet are now much more confident as new parents in caring for our son.

valerie B: and I was worried about my milk supply as I was not pumping much. I felt calm and relaxed as soon as Rachel walked in. We spent 3 hours together and during that time I pumped more than I ever had and my husband was able to give our daughter a bottle! I am so grateful we met her!

Anna Meister: I worked with Rachel and Kelci for in person labor and post partum support for my son's birth in November. It was my first time using a doula although my second pregnancy/birth. I am very glad that I chose this team of doulas to help me before, during and after my son's birth. After having difficulty with post partum issues and breastfeeding with my first child, I wanted to have more support with my second child. I found them both to have.a warm, gentle, and loving approach. They were also able to troubleshoot with me when I needed help with nursing, my son's GI issues, optimizing naps and sleeping, and mental health support. i chose in person since I was comfortable with having them in my home wearing masks. They were very responsive and available for text support and also had some video chats in addition to in person visits.

Helene Darmanin: We spent a lot of time with the professionals from NYC Birth Village around the birth of my first child. We took the child care and childbirth classes, had 2 prenatal visits, my birth, four postpartum visits, and a lactation visit with our doulas, Sam and Erica, and a back to work class with Jamie. Thanks to these lovely, warm, friendly, responsive, and caring ladies we were able to have the birth experience that we really wanted, which we felt very prepared for. We felt supported through difficulty with breastfeeding, and the tough transition of going back to work. Through a time that could have been intimidating, isolating, or even terrifying, we were able to focus on joy and wonder because of the support we received. It was a priceless gift.I would recommend this practice to anyone who is expecting and doesn't want to go it alone. It made a world of difference for us to have them there, and we are forever grateful.

Erica Speight: We were so grateful to have the support from Jill as a postpartum doula after our daughter was born. With not having family locally, she provided us with peace of mind in knowing we'd have someone coming by that could help guide us during those early, sleepless weeks. We asked her so many questions and she helped us navigate things like our baby's first bath, baby wearing, and even helped us get dinner together and do a load of laundry when it was what we needed most. She was very intuitive, caring, and sweet towards our baby. We even reached out to her again recently when we needed a last minute babysitter! I would definitely recommend services provided by NYC Birth Village, and Jill in particular!

Kelly Jo Barber: The doula team that I worked with were Jill and Sierra. Deciding to hire a doula was one the best investment choices of my life.Sierra and Jill are simply incredible. Prior to, and during this pregnancy my husband and I had been though a great deal of trauma around trying to conceive. This caused me to doubt my body’s power and lowered my confidence In myself as a woman. In our prenatal visits Jill and Sierra allowed me the space to acknowledge my fears and attach to them less. I knew that I wanted my birth in a hospital but also wanted it to be natural, with as little intervention possible and no pain medication.Jill was present during my birth and she provided me with the perfect blend of evidence based advice, expertise and guidance whenever my doctors were recommending an intervention . She did this both prior to and during my birth. She trained me on what I can say to the hospital staff to avoid the temptation of the pain medication. My labor lasted 24 hours and was induced. Early in, the doctors wanted to break my water. I did not want this, Jill’s preparation and support gave me the courage to push back and ask for more time to let my body labor naturally.Jill’s strength, and encouragement helped me overcome the intensity of the induction without pain medication for 16 hours. This is no easy task, since Pitocin makes you have contractions so often and so strong right from the beginning. Despite this, Jill got me into a natural rhythm that allowed my body to open and relax . She guided me through the transition with grace and kindness.By the 17th hour I was exhausted and told her I wanted to get the epidural, for fear of not having enough energy to push and then the labor ending in a c section. She encouraged me to try a little longer in such a supportive way. I ended up deciding on getting the epidural about a half hour later and she was completely supportive of that choice too.I pushed for 3 hours and ladies, epidural or no, you feel that. Two weeks later, as I write this I wish I could go back to that three hours.I wish I could relive that moment when I went from a woman who doubted my body, my strength, my female power because of everything that happened to make me loose faith in myself and transformed into a woman that advicates for her wants, feels her power and her beauty and brings a child into the world on that solid foundation.I’m 100% sure that my birth experience would not have been what it was without Jill. She taught me that it’s strong to be vulnerable and demand someone to hold your hand when you are scared, that it’s ok to be primal of you need to be.I can’t speak for the other doulas at this practice, but if they are anything like Jill, it will be the best money you have ever spent.Every woman deserves the birth experience that THEY want. Do this for yourselves and your babies ladies. It’s worth it.

Daria Mazey: I had Jill and Sierra as my doulas and they were fantastic! Would recommend enthusiastically without reservation. They're a great team. Jill is super knowledgeable about natural ways to help with discomfort during pregnancy and help you figure out what it'll be like to have a second kid and how to set yourself up for successful recovery/rest postpartum. Sierra has a wonderful calm and soothing energy and presence. They're both just great.

Rachel Feinberg: We had a great experience with Sam and Erica, who lent much appreciated insight to the birth of our son, both pre-, during and post. My husband and I were on the fence about including a doula for the big day, but Sam's calm and experience were invaluable during our delivery. We felt supported and advocated for throughout the process.

Maria Ermakova: . Narchi guided me throughout the entire process. She was absolutely essential during active labor. I don’t believe I would have been able to withstand the contractions without her by my side. I would certainly hire them again. Thank you Narchi and Karla!

Charlotte Siska: , helped me figure out baby wearing devices, assembled baby contraptions, taught me how to use the pump, prepared healthy snacks for me, recommended new mom groups- I could go on and on... Pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum time are such a whirlwind and choosing to have these experts by my side made everything go as smoothly as possible. So very thankful I found them and will be forever grateful to them for being such a wonderful part of one of life’s most intimate and amazing experiences.

Ping Deng: Narchi and Karla are excellent. They will be your best choice if you are looking for un-medical deliver or VBAC.I have my first baby with a very bad experience of c-section. When i have the second baby, My original OB do not support VBAC. Narchi and Karla give me a lot of information and help me to switch to other medical team which are very support VBAC.The 2 prenatal visit give me a lot of information, including exercise/therapy to help nature deliver, some exercise i can do during deliver to help the progress fast. And also give good suggestion to help our elder daughter to accept baby. They also suggest some very useful stuff we will use for deliver and after deliver. They are so professional and sweet. When the deliver date come. Narchi is my oncall Doula. It happened in the night, i call Narchi on 4 am and explain Narchi what happen and Narch tell me what to do and make me relax. When 4:30 am, i think my pain get intense i asked Narchi to come to my home and she arrive at 5 am when i an 311 and so pain. When she arrive, She help me to breath and seat in right position and then i can manage the pain again, otherwise i will pain to die in the taxi. She make the right decision for us to go hospital, my water broke immediately when we arrive in hospital. Her hand have never leave my body to help me deliver and relax the pain, even she help me to communicate with the nurse for the IV and also give me the instruction how to push before the midwife come. with her help, 20 mins i get from 5 to 10, and after another 40 mins, i have my baby.

Rick Yuan: Sam and Erica were amazing! They make a seamless team, as they complement each other's knowledge. In all of our interactions with them, they were professional, reliable, and passionate about their work. My wife and I debated back and forth whether to get a doula, but after the baby came, we were extremely glad we did. Erica was our doula on the day of birth, and she helped calm the room and applied techniques that, as much as a partner can read about, really need the hand of a trained professional. Both of them were great to work with, and we highly recommend them to anyone thinking about getting a doula.

Bianca van der Meulen: Karla and Narchi don't just know about the birth process and infant care; they know how to make you feel loved and confident. They felt like old friends from day 1 and helped my husband and I navigate our first birth experience

Chris Pollak: Sam and Erica wasted our time. We shared our details over email, including due date, met them for an hour consultation, only to hear from them afterwards that they were not available during our delivery time frame.

Jazz Birth Center of Manhattan: what do users think?

Claire Altizer: I received nearly all of my pregnancy care at Jazz and delivered at the birthing center July 1, 2021. I felt so cared for and supported every step of the way from my regularly scheduled visits, to anxiety calls to their 24/7 hotline, to the final delivery. All the nurses, midwives, and admin staff were so knowledgeable and clear and always took the time to explain things. Their delivery rooms are like a hotel room designed for labor. I highly recommend them for all pregnancy care and general obstetrics!

Shanell Stevens: SONshine is 8 months now & I wouldn’t have changed a thing about our experience with them. Giving birth is probably one of the most painful LONG and dedicated experiences I’ve experienced as a woman and the woman that were there for me including my doula were a major key to this brown eyed lover boy I have today!

Courtney Lugo: Such an amazing experience for my first birth. From start to finish all the midwives are professional and show such care and dedication for the birthing experience. Thank you especially to Nicole and Eva for helping to bring my girl into this world and Feeta and Makeda for your guidance during my pregnancy.

Mila Korshunova: I love this place! So grateful to have an opportunity to have my first delivery here! All the team remember me and each visit in the Center they are extremely supportive. My midwife and her assistant were calm and kind, I felt so confident surrounded by professionals. It was just a perfect experience!I couldn’t imagine a better place in NYC, and recommend this center to all my friends now.Thank you again.

Tracy Gaspard: This center is filled with informative, knowledgeable, caring, and kind midwives and medical team. I had such a wonderful experience and I met so many amazing midwives like Jen, Julia, Sarah, Jessica, and Vicky. They are all really great; made me feel so safe and confident during labor and deliver. Love this place! 💙

Erin Baliles: Can't say enough good things about this birth center. The midwives and other staff are so knowledgeable, helpful, and respectful. From the prenatal appointments through the birth of my firstborn, it was a positive experience and I felt cared for the whole time.

Shanae Lovell: They are great Julia in the Manhattan office and her team are awesome. I had my baby at home and they walked me through it step by step. I will highly recommend this birthing center. During this covid made it easy and accommodate it with all my appointments and needs.

Birth Matters NYC Childbirth Education & Labor Support: what do users think?

Salwa Abdel Wahed: The classes were very helpful and Lisa is very knowledgable and welcoming! I absolutely loved the last class on breastfeeding and newborn care, there is so much to learn but not much time to cover everything, so Lisa complemented the classes with an access to online resources.

Nicolas Kabat: . Lisa is incredibly warm and knowledgeable. And the location was convenient.

Jason Banrey: I found Birth Matters to be a welcoming support group that demystified the myths of labor. Lisa empowered me with the knowledge/direction I needed to brace myself/us for the wonderful life moment. As an instructor, Lisa also creates a safe space to learn more about what your partner will experience, while acknowledging participants from diverse backgrounds and injecting evidence based information that will help you both make informed choices with doctors, doulas and your extended support/health network. I look forward to keeping in touch with our cohort, and Lisa. I have a feeling it'll only get better from here! Highly recommend!

Mary Dang: The Birth Matters classes have been an invaluable resource to us! Lisa is a thoughtful, passionate, and very knowledgeable educator/doula and we felt super lucky to take her class on a matter that is so important and yet is not always universally accessible. Having a first-time baby, it can totally feel overwhelming and scary but Lisa's classes take you through everything and we felt it definitely worth the time and money.

Amanda Rizzo: Lisa is an engaging teacher and delivers a very well organized class. Her classes evidence based and incredibly informative. Highly recommend for any expecting parents.

Liby Thadathil: This review is 13 months overdue!! My husband and I never got to go to a Lamaze class or take any in-person birthing classes. In a state of panic, we bought Lisa’s online courses, and we binge-watched them a few nights before I had to go in for an induction. On the day of the induction, I got an email from Lisa where she was checking in with her clients that had joined the Birth Matters Complete Course. And at the end of the email, she wrote that she reads and responds to every email. My first thought was, “yeah, sure… Like she would have the time for that!” So I emailed her anyways, thanking her for the convenience of her course and that I was going in for an induction that evening and that any advice would be appreciated, etc. Within an hour, she had responded with induction tips from her doulas! And she proceeded to tell me a few more pieces of information on how to advocate for myself. And trust me, they came in handy. I could not believe it. That someone would so kindly take the time to write an email for a random woman who just bought the online course. She let me feel seen, which was so important to me since this was my first pregnancy. Her videos were so helpful and informative. She KNOWS what she’s talking about. The whole point of this story is… if you’re hesitating about working with Lisa and the doulas… DONT. If I could go back and save up for one of the doulas, I would 100% do that. You need someone to be your advocate! You’re giving birth; you are about to experience the most magical thing in your life. Focus on that, and let the doulas take care of you and advocate for you! I will recommend Birth Matters NYC over and over again. Thank you for EVERYTHING!

Lauren Lukacek Parks: Loved our experience with Lisa! She is so knowledgeable, patient, kind, nonjudgmental and very inclusive in her teachings. We took the weekend intensive held at her home and it was great to meet other pregnant couples in person, when most childbirth classes are on zoom. We practiced labor positions, swaddling a baby, changing a diaper – – and learned a LOT. If you’re planning on reading a bunch of books, this is a good recap, but if you don’t have time to read anything, this class will give you all the information you need before your baby comes! Thank you Lisa!!!

Mary Dannegger: Took the weekend course with my husband and highly recommended! I feel like I have so much of a better understanding of what to expect, do, bring, feel, see etc. in every stage of birth and post-birth! There’s a lot to learn, but i feel more confident and empowered in this new journey to becoming a mom!

EmJ Hova: Totally worth it for so many reasons! Lisa is truly so good at what she does. The 6 session class was also a great way to get to know expecting parents in the area.

Pamela P: Lisa is very nice and very passionate about what she does BUT this class does not need to be 3 days long. There was so much filler information and belaboring of topics. At times the overwhelming amount of information thrown in one sitting felt like a tactic to have women/couples feel like they NEEDED a doula. Also, her curriculum is so ridge that it doesn’t allow for many questions, or answers were brushed over quickly to stay on pace vs. Lisa pulling back on her talking so that people’s questions could be fully answered. If you are someone who really enjoys very detailed descriptions and deep dives re: the full birth, labor, and post care process, then this class is for you. However, if you are looking for a concise and to the point approach, this isn’t the best course for you.

Victoria Sladky: . My husband and I were definitely a little hesitant as new parents, and feeling overwhelmed by all the new things we had to experience. Lisa taught us about everything from how to cope in labor for both partner and birthing person, questions to ask our doctor for a healthy delivery, and what to expect after giving birth

kjhyland3: and we feel infinitely MORE prepared to welcome this little guy into our home and life!!! WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!

Marissa Adams: This was the best birthing class to help me enter motherhood.

Sara Peña: Extremely thankful for this class. We went with the 3 week, 6 class virtual option and it fit our needs perfectly. Lisa was authentic and honest about everything and opened our minds to all sorts of things we never would have thought of in regards to childbirth! She was always gentle with her advise, allowing us as a couple to determine if it was applicable to us or not. We went from "winging" it, to have such confidence in the next few months of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Like I said, extremely thankful for this class!

Camila Wilson: Lisa was a fountain of knowledge and imparted all the info in an engaging way! She is super helpful and warm too. Best thing my husband and I could have done to prepare ourselves for this unknown journey! highly recommend.

Esma Serdj: I did the virtual class and added the $99 special for breastfeeding. Let's just say A LOT of info, and worth every penny. Lisa is very sweet, informative, and provides amazing resources and recommendations, from Amazon shopping lists to literature recommendations. If you have questions post class, she is super about responding to you with any direction.I'm super glad I took this class, and HIGHLY recommend it!!

Alex Brook Lynn: I wish I had had the opportunity to take this class in person but because of COVID my husband and I took it on zoom. It was our single most educational resource for birth. Lisa answered my many questions even after our class. She is kind and takes a lot of the fear out of what to expect during labor. I felt a lot better and more prepared.

Melissa Williams: My pregnancy started at the same time as the pandemic and I was very sad not to have the opportunity to attend birth classes with my husband to meet other couples, emotionally prepare, and bond over this experience. However, I was so glad to have found the Birth Matters online curriculum. While I was skeptical at first of the online experience, they made a really wonderful replacement for live birth classes. I appreciated just how much information was included. I thought Lisa catered to a wide variety of birth experiences that people may or may not choose with no bias or judgement towards those choices. While my actual birth was far from smooth, I felt much more confident in my body and aware of what was happening throughout the process than if I hadn't had the videos. I hope to take a live class with Birth Matters for my next child! Thank you for the resource Lisa!

Elizabeth Thomas: Lisa's birth class was amazing! She is a fun and engaging presenter who makes the time fly with the plethora of information she provides. As a first time mom, I went into the course being scared about my approaching due date. Now after completing it, I am feeling prepared, ready and calmer about the experience. I also appreciated Lisa's thoughtful responses to questions and amazing wealth of resources and information. Highly recommend this course to anyone who is going to birth a baby or support a laboring person. Thank you Lisa for taking me from scared to ready to make my daughter's birth an amazing experience!

Caitlin Parys: I discovered Lisa a few months ago but was skeptical because she had such outstanding reviews, it seemed too good to be true! I was a bit nervous about labor and birth so we really put off taking the course until I was at 32 weeks- I wished we hadn't! Lisa's course was everything that we hoped it would be. Informative but not overwhelming, It condensed a lot of the research I had been doing on my own into memorable and helpful chunks that my husband and I could digest and apply to our upcoming first birth. She does a great job answering questions and also referring to evidenced based research and best practices to inform her recommendations. She also has made the digital pivot beautifully and we found her ability to command the Zoom classroom engaging and receptive to questions and discussions. She does a wonderful job of not pushing her opinions and provides information in a non-judgmental way that empowers the parents to make decisions that are best for them!

Doula Care Postpartum Service: what do users think?

Michelle Wang: We had such a wonderful experience with doula Kim, and can’t recommend her service enough! As new parents, we often ask Kim for advice, whether she’s at our home working with us or over the phone, and she’s always patient, thoughtful and respectful in her recommendations. During covid time, shes very considerate and careful protecting herself and in turn, her clients and new babies.Kim is extremely experienced and knowledgeable in taking care of newborns while teaching you fundamental skills and tricks. At the same time, she calms you using meditation and breathing exercises, as well as helping new moms get through the postpartum recovery by doing light housework and preparing snacks and meals for the family.Another service that we can’t recommend enough is the sleepover service, usually for the first night arriving home from the hospital. It is a must for first time parents and well worth every penny. The first night we got home from the hospital, we were excited but completely overwhelmed and exhausted… while having to care for our newborn. By having kim staying the night, she took care of the baby, coached me breastfeeding techniques, and recommended better ways to arrange our new baby furniture and appliances… and most importantly, allowed us to finally rest and reset, and helped us get ready for the morning and days after.

Rozana al-sayed: I provide 3 stars because the experience did not meet expectations and was not in line with the premise of the service. Our doula partner was lovely and very caring and responsive. The service, however, did not deliver on the core areas of postpartum support - support with breastfeeding, support with healthy eating, support with healing. This is an investment in your well-being and you need the help. The support was not structured and proactive. For hundreds of dollars a session, you will expect practical support that has a clarity of objective e.g., you don’t need someone to do food pick up or a cvs run when delivery service is often free or under $10. Like all professional services, plan has to be custom, keeping the specific postpartum needs on mind. caring. That said, you need proactive and well structured help. This is not it! I can provide more specific feedback.

Christine Clarke: , helping us care for him, helping me recover from my c-section, and helping prepare us to be first time parents. I can't express enough how grateful I am that we were able to have Lijah with us as a part of our family at that important time.

Nadia Manzoor: Brenna comes into your home and treats you to a beautiful post partum spa like experience. She feeds you delicious snacks and soaks your feet in therapeutic herbs and massages you and helps you go into a deep state of relaxation. The binding it self is a sacred process where she rubs ointment on your belly and wraps you up, supporting you posture and helping you to feel grounded after the birthing experience. An absolute gift to yourself or someone you love.

Robin Nolan: We can’t recommend Doula Care enough! We worked with Brenna who took wonderful care of our family and our preemie twins in the Fall of 2021. Brenna was so knowledgeable about baby, but also about postpartum care for me. She went above and beyond to do whatever our family needed to make the transition to parenthood as seamless as possible. We absolutely loved our time with Brenna! Ruth was also wonderful to work with, responsive and helpful. If you’re considering a doula, Doula Care is an excellent choice!

Caitlin Leonard: Ruth was extremely responsive and directed me to a potential Doula right away. After speaking with the Doula, Lori, I immediately knew she would be the one to help sheperd me into motherhood. Lori was a saint! She went above and beyond the duties of just helping to care for the baby, but also for me. Making sure I ate, slept and had time to take a shower. She made me so comfortable in the first months of such uncertainty that comes with being a first time mom. I also completely owe the success of my breastfeeding journey to her. Without her, I would have been lost.

Alexandra Curtis: Wonderful experience with Kim! As a first time mom during a pandemic, this was a master class for newborn caregiving, I cannot recommend enough! My husband and I felt extremely knowledgeable and supported during the early days, that lay a great foundation to be confident parents.

Ruth Jordan: Provided superb support to a new/inexperienced mum

Lenox Hill Hospital: what do users think?

maddalena: this hospital is horrible, I was in visible pain and screaming / crying and they did nothing to help me and left me waiting for hours. It was very unprofessional as well, the whole environment. Do not come here they’d leave you for dead.

Klee: . They didn’t offer anything and they didn’t tell me what to do. Not sure what I’m supposed to do now. Definitely don’t recommend that hospital.

Sarah: I cannot say enough good things about my experience. I went to the ER and was later admitted for emergency surgery. Throughout the whole experience, the staff led with empathy at a time my husband and I needed it the most. Dr. Karamitsos was absolutely amazing and cannot thank him and his team enough for all they did for me.

Allana Bamfield: The best hospital. The doctors and nurses are very caring. They took great care of me. It is also a very clean and professional hospital. I highly recommend.

Susan J: I was in Lenox hill approximately a year ago. I was greatly surprised that the care was truly good. The nurse and nurse aides provided truly excellent care. The doctors were attentive, kind and addressed my concerns. I was initially very frightened to be admitted due to poor care I received at another facility local to my home.

Nick: came to fix it. 25-30 minutes later, the terrible noise returned. It gave me a terrible headache. The cycle repeated itself regularly from 6:00 PM to 11:PM. No remedy was offered I begun to experience extreme heartburn, and discomfort and pain from the headache. I requested Olga for heartburn medication. It took one hour for the medication to arrive. I requested to provide ear plugs. Olga said there were no ear plugs available. I requested a transfer to another room. I was informed by Olga that there were no rooms available. These two statements are outright lies!Kathy Chester, the night shift nurse, upon my request provided me the ear plugs within five minutes. The ear plugs were no help but at least the ear plugs were provided. She is a good nurse.Per doctor's advise, I took a walk around the facility the next morning at 6:00AM. I noted that there were four vacant beds in Rms

Mykola Seredych: While visiting the patient at Lenox Hill Hospital UES NYC on June 21, I found a very dirty room. As you can see by photos, on the floor bandages with blood, covers from medications, etc. I called the nurse, she said you can take a photo, and do whatever you want. Then I called the managing nurse, named Natasha…, she came after one hour. Instead of apologizing she started arguing with me, telling “as long as the patient is safe that’s ok”.New rules: Dirty is Safe for the Patient…according Natasha!!!

Tami Ingwerson: Wonderful staff and very blessed to have Dr's who put patients 1st...watched a series on Netflix and wanted to say BRAVO 👏 ❤️🙏🙏🙏GOD BLESS YOU ALL FOR YOUR SERVICE

Estefanie Gonzalez: Words cannot express how thankful I am for the staff in the 9th floor URIS. The nurses, internal medicine team, and surgical team were very knowledgeable. I appreciated them updating and having a plan for my mother's recovery. The nurse manager Birru was very attentive to my mother's needs and was very welcoming. I felt completely safe and assured that my mother was in good hands. I appreciated how everyone on my mother's team explained and guided beautifully each step of my mother's process to recovery. Thank you all for everything!

Stefanie “Nicknack3300”: Don’t come here. They don’t believe in managing your pain. You will experience anxiety, fear, and the desire to potentially do something unlawful because they have deprived you of the right to pain management during your stay. DO NOT COME HERE. Doctors on staff believe opioid usage is not helpful and is akin to taking Tylenol. Advocating for patient is what I do. Patron at your own risk.

Anais Paulino: Accidentally left a review at the Hospital and not 1060 OBGYN which I don't recommend.

Maria Rodriguez: Great ICU also security Janelys Delarosa is amazing

rolando hernandez: The nurse we had was horrible. I understand you have a stressful job. But don’t take it out on us. You work on in a field where it’s stressful and very annoying. You have to have patience. If you don’t have that, you are in the wrong field. I’m sorry I wish I didn’t have to write this but WARNING STAY AWAY

Velva Gadson: I had good report on there handling my case there.

Emily Erin: this hospital will kill you if youre not white and only the hospital staff receives ethical care and pain control. WHY DO YOUR SURGEONS GET MORPHINE BUT YOU TELL REGULAR PATIENTS THAT OPIOIDS DONT HELP PAIN????

claudia: Doctors do not medicate their patients and will leave them in pain. DONT GO.

Mount Sinai West: what do users think?

Sara Subhani: I went to their detox center for a few days and the it felt like a psych ward meets prison. No one listened. One of the other patients threatened to kill me, so I reported it to the head nurse and suggested that she be relocated to the psych ward instead of the detox center, but that didn't happen and she continued to follow me around. Then another patient who probably had severe mental health issues kept threatening to assault everyone. Again, nothing was done. What they did do was discharge anyone who had the ability to speak out against these atrocities. This isn’t a detox center, it’s a spillover of the psych unit. If you’re looking for actual mental health care and to heal from your addictions. PLEASE go anywhere but here. I was fortunate to make a few good friends here, we all left before our official discharge dates, because this was one of the most terrifying, unsupportive environments I have ever been in. 0/10 recommend to anyone. You will leave here with more trauma than you came in with. Full disclosure, I’m a Columbia student who has been to several treatment centers. I cannot even find the words to describe how awful this experience was.

Michelle Thompson: Lack of compassion 😢 too many exchange students govern institutions creating concepts of false narrative 😐 Silly me I need to Really read consent form im given to sign upon treatment ☝🏾instead of statistics of wrongful treatment .. Went to Emergency department for what i thought was A jam finger..Was sent home after x-ray stating no broken bones 😍 sent home w/ splinter wasn't given proper instructions on finger but was waiting on Hand clinic.. 6-12-23 To vaguely sum this up why i feel Black Ppl's get third country treatment oppose to decent healthcare.. I went back to emergency 3 times concerning my finger. Dont want to lose my finger.. Each time i was told i had to wait for my appointment w/ Hand specialist on 440 Amsterdam ave 114 street .. 7-21 -23 .. finally the day came 😡 Why this young resident told me i had only 2 choices NOW because the ER doctors inform me wrong and that they fail to give me proper care until my appointment w/ specialist because now my finger is deformed 😡or physical therapy 3 months and even so my finger when fix can no longer bend😡 America is a laughing joke consume w/ low level entitled leading America to generations regrets that will soon give rise👍🏾keep up the good work.. absolutely stunning

Simcha Marks: This place is terrible the worse hospital I have seen in my life it is not well kept the rooms were the patients are not clean it is very old from the 1800 the doctors in residency are not experienced specially the doctors in cardiology they give too much medication too much anticoagulants without. MONITORING the patients even an hospital in third world countryis better the patient kept bleeding and still give give him the same medication it is a shame to have this type of hospital in the USA even the hospital in France are better equipped than this mou t sinai westDo not let your patie t go there

Matt Tompkins: Little Big’s League’s “Night Nurses From Jersey” were more competent than the L&D night nurses at Mt. Sinai West. My wife was traumatized.Ladies, give birth elsewhere.

nia Rose: I delivered my first child this June 2023 and Nurse Dorothy Chin made my stay beyond great. Nurse Dorothy Chin I can tell loves what she does. She has a great sense of urgency and a genuine heart to help. My husband and I felt we wanted to take her with us on our last day. Being a new mom, I feel confident because she taught me alot...from breast feeding to taking care of myself post delivery. I really hope to have her as our nurse again when we welcome baby number 2.

Margaret M: My dad is hospitalized right now and I’m writing this review because I don’t even know how to handle the frustration I feel. To start with, they failed to give him an important medication for his dementia since the day he arrived even though I gave them a full medication list, and they already had that list in the system anyhow since his internist is with Mt Sinai. When the mistake was discovered it took some arguing and needling on my part to get them to administer the medication as soon as possible, because sudden withdrawal from that medication can cause intense hallucinations, which he has been having. That’s horrifying enough but there are also other issues as well. He was on the 9th floor when he arrived and I asked that he be moved to the window after his roommate was discharged. They said possibly - then didn’t do it, and when I asked why the answer just seemed to be along the lines of “too much hassle”. Now we are paying $600 a night for a private room, and the food orders each night are missing items and never as I had ordered them, which is important because getting my dad to eat has been a struggle. If they serve him mashed potatoes that I didn’t ask for and omit the soup that he likes, it’s more likely he won’t eat it. For $600 a night? Most of the nurses are kind and I hope the doctors are trying their best but there doesn’t seem to be a good system of double checking things to ensure crucial mistakes aren’t being made. I also get the sense that they’ve only got residents and interns working on his case because those are the only people they’ve been sending me when I ask for updates .. and at times I’ve even been told things like “I am not really familiar with your dad’s case but they asked me to speak to you.” What? Why not send someone who is familiar? I feel very powerless here and the person suffering unfortunately is my dad, who can’t advocate for himself

Rosalba De La Cruz: I started going to Mount Sinai West in 2019 when I gave birth to my daughter. I have been to this hospital more times than I like to say but my stay here is always pleasant. The nurses on the 10th floor are amazing and I couldnt ask for better care than the one I received at Mount Sinai West!!!

FINER GANO (RNP): Literally the worst hospital/rehab facility in the world come here if you want to die. I’m literally still a patient here holding out because im almost done.but the amount of unprofessionalism i have experienced here is ridiculous from ignorned call bells to disrespectful staff is ridiculous. God forbid you say something they dont like they will leave you to rot or confront them on something like in my case. This place is completely disgusting and understaffedAnd they staff they do have completely incompetent or dont care. Please do not come here if you value your well being. EDIT I JUST CALLED AN AMBULANCE TO COME RESCUE ME. DO NOT COME HERE

Andrea María: Waiting time at OBGYN and Ultrasound is ALWAYS more than an hour, sometime even more. A nightmare!

Yomairy M. Vargas Hdez: I was taking care of through my entire pregnancy at this location and I also gave birth there honestly I had a great experience, it was in year 2020 therefore appointments were a bit far apart but even after birth they always called me to check on me and the baby; provided me with some free stuff postpartum and diaper for the baby. Nice comfortable and spacious room, I truly enjoyed the experience.

lostinspace: Was admitted for GI issues and fainting and falling while in hospital I wasn’t given my meds for sleep until after 3 hours on unit and was given it in increments so didn’t get all my till 4:45 in the morning then was treated like I was not human this hospital says there sorry but actions speaks so I don’t need an apology I would prefer positive actions so please save your sorries

Susan Schulter-DeLuca: Dungy, old, staff not too friendly. Surgeon excellent.

Dan Kenny: Started off a bit rough, some staff has no business working with people but spoke with management and got the best help I could ask for.If you are willing to advocate for yourself. This place is amazing. Doctors, nurses, consultants and just everyone were great.

NEKTARIOS BELLAS: Simply unacceptable and careless behavior! I arrived an hour ago with severe chest pains and looking pale. I had to wait for 15-20 minutes with others on line because ‘the admissions person went to get something.’ Terrible attitude and they do not care. Same happened last time when they sent me home and refused to treat me because my situation happened in the past. SHUT THEM DOWN! Going to Lenox and I hope I make it ALIVE!

S Kennedy: This hospital almost killed me !!!!I was admitted on a Sunday for high blood pressure they had me on this magnesium drip for two days as I was in labor and they told me the only side effects was drowsiness and fatigue. I ended up having an emergency c section because I wasn’t dilating they told me I would only feel tugging from the c section I felt EVERY THING and I told them that and they did not listen. Hour later I started to bleed I told the nurse who said it was normal but the bleeding became uncontrollable . I began to hemorrhage and had to go under emergency surgery to stop the bleeding they didn’t even explain what happened until I started to ask questions days after my surgeries and a doctor admitted that magnesium drip is a high percentage in hemorrhage. That is so neglectful not to disclose that information I trusted mines and my babies life in this hospital. They discharged with a blood pressure of 157/100 I asked what can be done to lower and they told me it was okay . I went for my postpartum appointment to have my blood pressure at 180/100 and had to get readmitted to the hospital. It took them 7 hours to get my blood pressure down. They should’ve never discharged me without blood pressure medicine in the first place. If you want good prenatal care or labor and delivery experience go to another place.

Yale Zhao: Mount Sinai West has the most incredible team of doctors, nurses, residents, and support staff. Everyone was incredibly caring, kind, and professional. It’s never pleasant to be in a hospital but the team here makes it as positive of an experience as possible.

Mount Sinai Hospital: what do users think?

Yu ._.: One of the nurse there made fun of my body hair while I was doing the echo test. Made me so self conscious and felt extremely humiliated. AWFUL experience. As a patient I don’t think it’s right to PICK on how our bodies look as we are sick and came for treatment not a modeling agency. Extremely disappointing

Rebecca DeChabert: Didn't have to wait to long for service. Reception staff was very receptive also.

leonard smith: Good hospital

Mani Perez: ZERO STARS!!! RUN! If I can give Zero Stars I would.. Went in with sneakers left with NO SNEAKERS AT ALL! Had to walk blocks shoeless! The nurses stole from me while I was unconscious and in need of care! I will be taking legal actions. I have witnesses that saw me go into the hospital with my sneakers on my feet as well!

Anastasiya K: These guys can't even put on a simple cast properly - the whole hand got swollen and everything had to be replaced for the sake of health. Completely incompetent doctors AND nurses. Shame on Mount Sinai!

sevara akhmedova: I still can't forget the bad experience with youIndifferent attitude, waste of time, unprofessionalism. A lot of pain and bad memories - my beloved dad left you. Doctors without a heart

Hi There: The knight died here RIP December 10 2022 Rip batman.

mimi love: For all your emergency needs they have special care units the best medical staff in nyc

Manson Jtiger: It is the worst hospital in New York City, racism and abnormal negligence in the emergency or inpatient departments, and the worst doctors in the field of liver.if you Wana to die quickly, go to them.
