TR Crandall Guitars: what do users think?

Andrew Cushen: *the* place to take your vintage acoustics for assessment, repairs, and setups. Cool selection of vintage acoustic and electric guitars, basses, amps....

Ken Riley: Tom is both extremely kind and extremely knowledgeable. I trust him completely and the 1972 Guild 12 string that I bought from him after he did a neck reset and bridge work is one of my favorite instruments.

Daniel Heideman: Tomorrow the owner, is the nicest guy! Great service and awesome selection, highly recommend

Maximiliano Massolo: best guitar shop i’ve ever been to. the guys that work there are awesome. kind and profesional. definitely coming back

Logan Poe: Fixed and restrung my guitar very quickly, very knowledgeable about their guitars in stock. Cool people 👍🏾

Alan Wherry: The best of the best. They fixed my Martin D35, repaired a crack near the pickguard, reset the neck. They sold a es335 for me on consignment, Couldn't recommend them more highly.

Filip Galiza: I don’t know anything about guitars but my kid is BIG TIME into it, especially ukuleles. This shop was fantastic and has a huge selection of all sorts of guitars and some ukes. The guys who run it were SUPER nice, informative, more focused on educating than selling and were an absolute delight yo teach me some history behind some of their more vintage instruments they carry. They were very helpful to my kids too. All in all a great shop with a big selection, loads of knowledge and true passion for their industry!

Saintshouse: Great team and everyone is extremely nice and easy to talk to. Great selection of guitars all over the map. Thanks for your time and effort. look forward to visiting again in the future when I am in town. Love my WL-JK

Sonny Ratcliff: Best shop in the city, you might have to wait for your repair but the work is second to none.

Euphoria Studios NYC: Tom Crandall is a master. Tom has done extensive work on my three very fine mandolins: Ellis F, Ellis A and a Gilchrest. I would trust nobody else. If your instrument needs TLC go there. Be sure to spend some time with the first class instruments for sale in the showroom

David Desilet: Beautiful guitars, great atmosphere, Dan is very knowledgeable.

BRENT CARON: Great people, great service.

Rivington Guitars: what do users think?

Martin Lin: I brought a wah pedal in for repairs. The problem turned out to be a bad 3PDT switch. They did not call me with the diagnosis or an estimate, but rather went ahead a did the repair. And charged me $100. You heard that right...$100 to repair a faulty switch! That is a $5 part and 15 minutes of work, tops. For that I paid $100. I don''t make $400 dollars an hour, do you? Wild. And they didn't even call me first to see if I wanted to pay $100 to replace a 3PDT switch. No words. I gave two stars because the people who work on the floor are cool. And they have nice guitars.

Kevin Koulopoulos: Howie’s personable and professional. He runs a solid shop with a great selection and fair offers if you’re selling gear. Would definitely recommend stopping by if you’re a musician in the area.

Enrico Holley: Nice store and great staff. If you are looking for something vintage and special, check them out. I'll be back next time in town

Varun Chillara: and was paid back not even 1/3rd of what i paid for it ... wish i read the other reviews before i bought.i scrolled through other reviews and this seems to be a pattern in the store. not a one off

Clint From Illinois: Great Vintage collection as well as some nice newish stuff. I fell in love with several at a glance.

Justin Woo: Cool shop with a lot of high end instruments and a wide variety of pedals. If I got very serious about my guitar playing, I'd show up here looking to drop a few thousand on something really special.

Andrew Sheldon: An amazingly curated collection of guitars from a make and model standpoint, but either there's no tech taking care of these instruments or there's no money in selling a quality instrument. This place is selling popular vintage instruments at vintage prices but caring very little for the actual state of said instrument.Recently bought a musicmaster because I truly loved the look and feel of it and its reverb listing said, "very good." There was a dead fret on the neck and I figured I'd just have my tech take care of that. Come home to swap out the strings, it's missing washers on the headstocks, etc. This crew are like used car salespeople of the vintage instrument outlets.Stay. Away.

Maureen Fortugno: Great store. I love the stores that you don’t have to wait to get service. The staff was excellent. Very knowledgeable. The selection is great. The website is fantastic. I spotted the guitar I wanted on the website I made an appointment showed up struck a great deal. They paid me $500 over what’s the other stores offered me for my guitar and I walked out with this beauty. Great day. Great guitar.

Jay Bass: I love this store. The staff is friendly knowledgeable. They gave me a great deal on my trade-in, $500 over 2 other major stores offered. Their website is easy to navigate and has a great selection. I spotted this beauty on the website. Made an appointment. Took it home. Could not be happier.😃

Julian Brown: Cramped shop, staff weirdly rude and standoffish when asked questions. Plus, they appeared to doubt my ability to actually buy anything there, which well, is kind of an issue, and I'm left wondering what brought them there. Edit I originally meant to have in: "*Was it the way I looked?*"

Michael Hoolihan: Coolest little guitar store in NYC. really nice people

Greg Nevins: Just purchased an expensive guitar from this shop and was abruptly rushed out by a staff member after plugging into an amp for 2 minutes to ensure their set up job felt right. Being a returning customer, this left a bad taste in my mouth with this shop.

Shaochen Jason Feng: A$$ owner

Meor Yisroel: Enjoyed buying a mandolin here for my grandma- she past on this past week- but the memories of her and the store will always remain!

Kenneth F.: They know their craft it’s crazy you are talking to dedicated musicians and it shows

lee murray: It's ok nothing to write home about. Very small store which is expected for the east village. It's definitely not a holy grail of cool/vintage guitars like some reviews suggest. Staff is ok but everything is behind the counter and it's not super inviting. To be honest I expected to be a little wowed considering this was NYC and other niche stores here have delivered but this wasn't on par with stores I've visited in towns with less than a tenth of the population. Would skip this unless there was something on their online store or you are a celebrity.

Vimal Vaderah: I have to agree with the comments here. Extremely standoffish when I asked a few questions. Answered my questions like they were doing me a favor by selling to me. Disgusting treatment. Avoid these folks

Ichabod McBickenbocker: Rude. And given how effortlessly this attitude is verbally delivered I can tell it is a natural personality trait and very well rehearsed. I would give this store a zero star if I could.

Scarr Mystic: Decent guitars but horrible staff. They would not let me demo any guitar i wanted to play. I do not know why they are still in business.

Rudy's Music Soho: what do users think?

Thomas Karatzas: Best guitar store I’ve ever been to. Incredible selection, excellent customer service beautiful store.I exclusively shop here for all needs possible.

Alessandra Cambria: Very kind and very helpful staff in assisting customers in trying out instruments in a shop full of incredible guitars, especially the two rooms dedicated to Taylor and Martin. A must visit if you are a guitar enthusiast

Dave Huber: Iconic spot. Friendly staff. World class guitars

Chris Angell: Rudy's is the place to go for guitar setups. They really know their craft, and the adjustments they made to my instrument were spot on. Now my guitar feels and plays great!

andresfresco: We came to Rudy's Music on the recommendation of another music house. We were looking for a banjo accessory for a nickel thumb pick, we found the last one I had at the time. When we arrived we were treated very kindly and since our English is not good, Rudy's daughter attended us. He had a detail with us that I am going to reserve, but beyond that the place and the attention is very good.

Frank Furter: Item as described and shipped really fast!

Jie Lyu: Went there to check out their acoustic guitars. Very nice and cozy shop. Great Taylor and Martin collection. Jacob was very helpful and patient. He helped me try out about 5 guitars and played a few demos himself. Didn’t quite vibe with the “Martin” guy on the seconds floor though.

piotr bal music: I was looking for Cordoba C12. I went to Rudy's and after playing literally 3 notes, I knew - this guitar is mine. This was my first visit to Rudy's and I was pleasantly surprised with the warm welcome and excellent customer service. My visit lasted about 5 minutes. I knew what I wanted and they made it happen quickly, to the point, and genuine. I will definitely be back. The Cordoba C12 is an amazing guitar. It provides great sound, it tunes very well, the action is about 3.5 mm at 12 fret, and it looks stunning. At this moment, this guitar does not need a setup. I can't stop playing it.

Michael Johnston: I had one task when I came to NYC, and going to Rudy’s was it. My son and I went today, on my 47th birthday. I asked about etiquette as soon as I identified an employee, just so I knew my boundaries relative to handling the guitars. It was instantly obvious that the staff aren’t interested in tourists, and they had this middle aged dad pegged. I have to tell you. This was about as disappointing as it gets. I’m an IBMA member/musician who has money to spend and I specifically went in looking for a Martin. Way to go….Two stars only because of the selection and aesthetic.

Viktor Doliak: Friendly knowledgable staff made my experience among the most pleasant I've had in a guitar store. The history of the store is fascinating as well.

sixstring: speechless!! Great!!

M: Best services. Coolest staff. Beautiful guitars.

David Foster: always friendly, knowledgeable, and great selection of new and used/vintage guitars.

Finlay + Gage Musical Instruments NYC: what do users think?

Isabella Lemos: Went to Finlay + Gage to have my cello repaired after it took a bad fall last year. Béla did an amazing job caring for my instrument. I went home and played it as soon as I got in and it sounded good as new. Both times I went in for drop off/pick up there were other customers in the store and you could see how attentive the staff was in describing the details/care and in assuring all questions were answered.I definitely recommend their repair services! Hopefully I do not need another anytime soon but if I do, I know where I am going.

Norah Chen: It was my first time choosing a violin to keep. Joshua was so patient and gave me a lot of professional advice. It took a long time to reach my final choice, but they were always kind and respectful. Very good instruments with the best offers. Thank you very much Joshua and Matthew! Sweet people and nice place!

Leonardo Torrente: Great store!!!

Abigail Wolff: A New York City treasure. It’s like a step back in time to a kinder, gentler age in which things like fine, hand-made musical instruments truly mattered. I bought my cello here and the care and attention I’ve gotten are fantastic. Matthew and Koji are knowledgeable and lovely to be around. I highly recommend Finlay + Gage.

Nick Lloyd: I sell my doublebasses through Finlay + Gage and they always treat people with respect.

dynacoustics: Great staff, highly recommended rental and repair facility

Susana Aikin: Great place, great guys, personalized attention— very recommended.

Matt Ball: Good place to buy string instruments but look elsewhere for repair services. Had a really positive experience buying my cello from here - very welcoming staff and let me try a bunch out. But I took my cello in to have a new peg fitted and it came back with a chip in the body. Very disappointed they didn’t take better care of my cello whilst working on it

la. nskey: Has all the string things I need!

Adam Solove: I live in a city with few double bass options, so when I can to NYC, I had to make a pilgrimage to Finlay+Gage. Matthew took time out to describe different models and constructions and was incredibly helpful.

deborah monlux: Professional and efficient service- I recommend highly the staff at Finlay and Gage musical instrument repair!

Robin Larson: Great shop and skilled repairs. They have a very nice inventory of instruments. Staff is friendly and customer service was great.

Hide Tanaka: Béla, Thank you, you did a great job, I'm really happy‼️🙆‍♂️Now, my bass sound not just without noise, but sounds more full, stronger, and respond very well. Especially with the bow👍

Sergio Castro Medina (musicsergiocm): I feel sad the announce say it close at 7pm and I arrived at 6pm and it was closed. 😢😢😢but it seems to be the best shop!

Masada Mpc: Great place to find great gear

Riad Miah: If you tired of big box service at music stores check out Rogue Misic. They will provide you with quality service for your specific need. Clay is great.

Richard Gard: I sold a few of my primo synths to Rogue and everyone was fair and fun. The shop itself is epic and filled with the coolest guitars, effects, synths, and PA. My equipment was thoroughly bench and live tested before Rogue purchased them, so I am sure any musician buying new or used gear will have no problem with their new instrument.

DJ SOUND HIMATNAGAR: i need second hand instrument Roland spd20 .roland 60 keybord

Ralph Sordyl: Love Rogue Music. Great place to find used gear.

Carlos Alomar: My first stop for all my guitar, amp and other repairs. What I like about Clay and his crew is…if they can’t do it, they know who can. Professional service always.

Steve Brown: Been doing business here since the early 80’s! Clay and Ed were always my go to guys for everything!!!

Ricky: Clay was great brought a subwoofer for a great deal and he even wrapped it up nice to make it easy to carry. Thanks

John Baum: Best Music Store in NYC

30th Street Guitars: what do users think?

Joseph Nava: Had some work done on old electric guitar. They brought it back to specs. Sounds like a new guitar. Talked to the repairman who worked on guitar. They gave a personal feel to repair. Great job.

jody jackson: Service was great — they are knowledgeable and kind and did a great job with my guitar set up.

Kevin: not 30th street,I rarely write reviews for guitar repair, this is the first time.I was overwhelmed with good news and good service, I felt compelled to write something as a token of appreciation

Paresh Shah: Today I reached by 3.30 pm in shop , but owner of shop & other gentleman was sitting on payment counter, , didn’t bother for customer, I wanted to buy two guitars, ready to spend $ 7000 , to take it at my country, spending few moments over there, I immediately checked out of his shop & I purchased fr other store

Macon Toledano: They did an incredible job with my guitar. Extremely friendly people and professional services.

Jeremy Frederick: Awesome shop. Great experience. The owner Matt is highly knowledgeable and helpful in dealing with vintage instruments. Prices and turnaround time are very reasonable for the quality service.

Nicolás Martínez: . This kind of attention, empathy and passion for what they do

mike bono: I take all of my guitars here when they need work done. Matt always does an incredible job. I have had my guitars setup all over the city, and I have never been happier than when I take them to 30th st.

Amy Lim: Matt is super friendly and funny, he helped me fix the electronics in my guitar that has been bothering me for weeks 🙏

Ross Byron: This is the place to get your axe fixed or find something awesome

Rick Robbins: They do unbelievably high quality repairs at extremely reasonable prices. And they all seem to be very nice, very friendly people. My bottom line: I trust them.

Josue Martinez: High quality guitars from acoustic with metal strings to electric ones, professional staff, a lot of variety of guitars, they offer guitar classes too.

Daniel D'Agostino: !

ERGYS HILA: I brought my guitar here to address some issues after I saw many great reviews. Fret sprouting, fret leveling if needed, and a general setup, after 14 days of waiting, they claimed they did everything including fret leveling. I paid $200. I returned home and checked what they had done. With a fret rocker, I found that the guitar has the same high frets as before,  they never bother to set up the guitar not even intonation. I also still can feel sharp fret ends. Long story short, I paid $200 to have them change the guitar strings and wait 14 days.  Will not return.

Johnny Philipps: A fantastic set up done by Matt! Jimmy is super knowledgeable, just do yourself a favor , head there ... setups are fairly priced.

Tom Wipf: THE BEST! Full stop 🏆

C. A.: I usually purchase from Guitar Center which has similar prices, but you have to pay parking and go up to Ridge Hill. I also dread Guitar Center, you have to wait a lifetime for her help. This place has great prices, no parking fee, it's close to home and YOU DON'T HAVE TO WAIT FOREVER FOR SOMEONE TO HELP YOU. Not to mention that it's a small business which I prefer to give my hard earned money to.

DoraAlicia Acosta: Great customer service

Bones T: Great customer service thats hard to find in major franchised music stores. Beginner to intermediate equipment in stock and professional equipment can be ordered.
