Ronin Athletics - Gracie Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing, MMA NYC: what do users think?

BerwynHeights Bjj: Awesome place awesome people! Facility is immaculate and instruction is top-notch. Visited from out of town for class and Christian and the crew were awesome. Highly recommend you give it a try.

matty cohen: I highly recommend Ronin Athletics for anyone looking to learn jiu jitsu or other self defense in New York City. When I first started taking classes here I had no experience in any form of martial arts or self defense. Now less than a year later I feel very confident in my abilities to defend myself in any physical altercation that I may come across. This location teaches Gracie Jiu Jitsu in a structured and organized manner, with specific classes offered on each day, and often there are both afternoon and evening classes offered to accommodate for different people’s schedules. There are also video lessons included so you can look online if you forget any of the details to the techniques learned in class. The classes are tailored towards beginners and also allow for more experienced people to refine their skills. There are also more advanced classes offered for when you become more experienced and improve. If you’re looking to learn self defense in NYC, you should definitely give Ronin Athletics a try.

JJ: It's a Gracie certified gym and a great place to learn jiu-jitsu if you live in New York City. I like the culture, it is welcoming and humble. The program is well-structured and detailed, and head coach Christian is a great teacher.

Trevor Holloway: I started my jiu-jitsu journey at Ronin over 7 months ago. It is a fantastic school. Christian is very detail orientated and takes things at good pace to learn. This school has given me a great foundation and appetite for the sport of Jiu-jitsu. It is very welcoming and there is a great sense of camaraderie amongst everyone.

matthew guertin: They discriminate against black people

Joanna Szczepanik: The best gym in the world!

Artur CG: Loved it. Happy to sign up for a membership

Matthew Davey: Ronin Athletics is the only Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Certified gym in New York City. The school offers a systematic approach to jiu-jitsu with an emphasis on self-defense. Kickboxing is also offered as well as classes for kids and self-defense designed especially for women. Head Coach Christian Montes brings years of experience in jiu-jitsu as well as mixed martial arts. He is deeply involved in the progress of his students and in creating a training environment that is comfortable and safe for everyone. I am 51 years old and 145 pounds and have been able to train safely at Ronin athletics for years. The gym is located in a clean, welcoming space right near Grand Central Station in midtown Manhattan in the shadows of the Chrysler and Empire State Buildings.

Mauricio Munoz: , a must for those looking to hone those jiu jitsu skills, in my opinion. Also, a big shout-out to coach Bart, whose patience and expertise have benefitted me greatly. I’d also like to highlight the work of coaches Xavier, Aiden and David

Karan Singh: I have been training at Ronin Athletics for over a year now. The faculty here is fantastic in teaching you gracie jiu jitsu. I’m a big fan of structured learning and progression in martial arts and this gym follows a strong plan in how they approach teaching. It’s a wonderful gym with fantastic instructors. If you’re looking to learn self defense in new york city, I highly recommend this place. Below is a picture of me after receiving my combative belt with the head instructors Christian and Bart.

deanbigdog: Learning jiu jitsu was a dream deferred for me. But I’m finally doing it. This gym is very conducive to learning. The coaches are patient with all levels of athleticism and ages. The gym is in a central convenient location in Midtown. There are day -as well as night and weekend classes. Ive improved flexibility as well as dropped a few pounds. I’ve enjoyed the benefits of learning Jiu Jitsu to the point that I’ve gotten my grade school child involved. He enjoys it as well, as it has improved his self confidence and helped him when the school bullies have challenged him when teachers weren’t around. I would definitely recommend a trial class to see if Jiu Jitsu is for you. As for me -Jiu Jitsu has changed my life .. I love it and will never be the same

Rolando Arco: I trained at Ronin since before their move to the current state of the art Midtown location, and I find an oasis of positivity and professionalism. Excellent choice for learning Gracie Jiu Jitsu with an emphasis on self defense. It is a smaller dojo thus the instructors know you and you get a lot of one on one attention. Christian infuses this place with his passion and knowledge of the art.

just good: What can I say this academy is a true gem in the heart of NYC. The only Gracie University CTC in the big apple and I’ve been so grateful to have found this academy. The level of instruction and attention to detail that the team there provide is top notch. Not only am I learning self defense through the Gracie Combatives program but also staying in top notch shape with the kickboxing program. Beautiful place and stays clean 🔥💯

maan batterjee: Gracie Jiu Jitsu teaches one the essential techniques needed for street survival. If one is interested in developing their grappling skills, and becoming street ready then this is the place to be.

Dustin Cintron: The Jiu-Jitsu program at Ronin Athletics is fantastic. The curriculum is intelligently structured, and the coaches are friendly, knowledgeable and supportive. I love the atmosphere, and training there has been a great experience. Highly recommended!

Andrew S: classes and will say that the experience at Ronin Athletics is excellent. Each class is designed to be very accessible regardless of prior experience and focuses on building a strong Jiu Jitsu foundation before moving on to more rigorous sessions. The facility itself is bright, clean, and is centrally located in midtown Manhattan. Their trial program was also a great way to take full classes and get a feel for what the program is like before committing to a membership. Plus, once you join you gain access to all the resources that a Gracie membership has to offer

Alex Chen: Always wanted to learn self defense as well as MMA fighting. Never got a chance to learn it properly until I came across Gracie Jiu Jitsu academy here at Ronin Athletics. It really changed my life!

Robert Calero: Ronin Athletics provides excellent instruction and recognizes the individual progress of each of the students who participate in the Gracie Combatives program. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who would desire to learn. The facility is also very importantly family friendly. Programs for men, women, and children are available. Much appreciation to Head Instructor Christian Montes and his staff. Thank You!

Radical MMA NYC: what do users think?

Mr. nobody: A comprehensive effective rational and efficient system. I could go on and on.

mario azeharie: I would like to start by saying that Radical is a place for everyone who’s willing to work hard and listen to be better as a fighter and a person. This can be your first ever combat gym or years of experience of training. It’s an MMA gym where grappling and striking are being taught each class. From basic movement to more intermediate level, depending on the individuals. Radical provide real life situation and considered where you are in scenario, weather self defense in the street and in the cage. Coach Rene really focus on efficiency on our skills. Especially in terms of street situation when eye gauge, groins, and etc can be attack.I have no prior experience in combat training. I’ve been part of the gym for over a year now, and it was the best decision I made in life. The class size is very manageable, Coach Rene really care about the students, and know where we are individually in terms of our current skill levels. Which is very impressive.Beside the coach, members in the gym also very helpful. We help each other to get better, no ego, and it’s okay for tapping early to prevent injury. We train very hard, and really focus on technique. Getting better together as a whole is the perfect environment for us.Be there and give it all you got. OSU!

JC: .As a note - this is a no-gi gym and a lot of the focus is on combat grappling with keeping MMA in mind, so a bit different than traditional sport BJJ/wrestling. There is also some gym equipment you are welcome to use. We regularly train with MMA gloves

Calvin Heffes: If you are interested in overall MMA- fighting to compete in an octagon and/or possess the ability to defend yourself and others, this is certainly the best gym in the NYC area. This is due to Rene's coaching expertise and program, which is crafted in a very scientific manner to combine the most relevant techniques of boxing, BJJ, wrestling, muay thai, etc. You aren't training Jiu Jitsu for an hour and then switching to boxing, you are training everything together in sequence- as would occur in actual fights or competitions. So while grappling, you also are preparing to block strikes, while striking, you're aware of takedown defense and opportunities. This is an exceedingly rare thing to find in a gym. If you are looking to compete, this is the place for you. If you are a beginner or more casual practitioner, this MAY be the place for you provided you take your training very seriously and work hard. Its a very beginner friendly environment, and you'll learn a ton alongside aspiring amateurs and professionals, but with that comes the need to match their energy- this isn't a recreational fitness program.Training here was an honor and a privilege.

Dave McAlinden: , and I am much more systematic in my game. I really love training here. But, you should know......Radical is a serious place. Many people quit because they come in with the wrong idea about it. It isn't as hellish as a wrestling room, but you do get yelled at for executing techniques poorly if you should at your level know them well. The school trains BJJ with strikes and never uses techniques which can lead to one's vulnerability in a fight setting. Good technique is put above all else, here. And for good reason. There is a striking class, but you have to qualify to take it. To qualify you have to receive your first stripe. And that takes from six months up to over a year depending on how competent you become at the basic curriculum. With that said, you will get out of this exactly what you put into it. It's a serious course of training, and the expectations and standards are extremely high; but, you will be amazed at the results if you show up consistently, accept feedback, and do your best. Being coachable is the overriding quality in those who succeed here—not athleticism or intensity, but the openness and humility to learn the system. Two things you should know about the Radical MMA culture:First, there are some aspects that are quite traditionalist, but they all have strong reasoning behind them. For example, we are required to greet and depart as well as answer in the affirmative by exclaiming the Japanese "Osu". The reason for this is to set and maintain a serious mindset to stay focused and persevere through discomfort. Furthermore, there is a culture of respect and professionalism that is a bit formal and slightly strict. For example, swearing as well as crossing your arms is not allowed as it is seen as conducive to an environment of disrespect. Additionally, any type of meat-head or inappropriate behavior can be met with expulsion from the gym. These social constraints and limitations are there to both maintain courtesy and keep people safe. As such, you will get along with everyone and you will have a lot of fun.Second, the proprietor of Radical MMA, Rene Dreifuss, is an extremely dedicated coach. He wants the students to be the best representatives of his system as they can be. As such, students are provided with a lot of personalized feedback. Rene always works to improve his instruction and his relationships with the students. And, he is very conscious of everyone's safety in the gym—albeit vigilant about students avoiding injuries. Although this sounds all very serious, he will tell a lot dad-jokes an bad puns. A lot of them are mnemonics to help remember principles and techniques, but they also have the ancillary effect of taking a bit of the edge off.I highly recommend Radical MMA to anyone who wants to develop combat skills, make a few friends, and get in shape.

Sandro: The best gym I’ve ever been to. Rene is an outstanding human being and an amazing instructor. Coach Rene took me from a kid, having dreams of even fighting once, to being 5-0 and about to fight for the belt in amateurs. This gym is for serious martial artists only. Real fighters, real people. If you want to be the best version of you. Mentally, physically, emotionally, come here and see what it can do for you.

Marley Jervis: Apologies for how long it took me to get to writing this review, but I can say for myself, I have never met a coach who was as analytical, respectful and driven as Coach Rene Dreifuss. His techniques are world class, aimed at establishing positions over submissions and specifically designed to help those who may be at a physical disadvantage when trying to defend themselves. I have been to other gyms where the philosophy was to get hit or beat up enough until you can tolerate it and push through the pain. I have been beaten up pretty badly as a result of this methodology, and never learned proper technique. Rene showed me that fighting is more than just barbarism or brute strength. He showed me that fighting is a science, and even an art form when applied properly. I was so used to sparring without any proper technique, and this made me very spazzy and energy ineffeciant. Coach Rene will have you drill techniques until it becomes muscle memory, which has helped me a lot when it comes to self defense. This is not a gym where you go to bask in the adulation of beating up the weak or get praised for doing the bare minimum. Coach Rene is hard on you because he believes you can master the techniques, and most importantly because he values your safety above all else. I have become a better man because of Rene, and I promise you that under his guidance that you will not only learn to defend yourself properly, but that you will become a better person as well. Take care!

Ronald Lam: are learning and doesn’t want any of his students to be left behind. I prefer this gym over the others in nyc because you really do get the attention of the coach and again, you learn real-life scenario fighting that’s safe and friendly. Highly recommend.

Aleksandr Vinogradov: Glad I signed up!

Decapita 2: En definitiva este es el mejor gimnasio no busques más!

Steven Morris: This is the real deal. The best MMA academy in New York City. Rene is completely committed to his craft and to YOUR training, and he expects the same in return. The system he has developed is very demanding, but well worth it considering the abundance of class offerings, the price point and most importantly the world class instruction.

Kevin Wang: The head trainer Rene is awesome. Took my first class recently -- I was a little intimidated walking in but Rene made me feel super welcome. This is a gym where they take training seriously -- and it appears optimized for just getting better. Class is immersive and during the workshops there are no water breaks. That said, it all aligns with a philosophy of intensity and commitment needed to progress in the sport. The facilities are no frills -- but has everything you need. I recommend bringing some bottled water and shower supplies for after you're finished.

Michael Jardine: Learned a lot about martial arts and about myself in my four years at this school.

Benjamin Altman: Spent a lot of time the last year searching for a Mma gym in nyc and tried out a lot of different gyms. All the places I kept joining or taking trial classes at felt more or less like fitness classes than actually learning how to fight and it was very frustrating for me as someone who really wanted to learn Mma. Then I came across Radical MMA and head coach Rene Dreifuss. Coach Rene was super cool during my first trial class and it was evident early that he really knew what he was talking about. Towards the end of the trial class I got to join the main class and I learned really quickly that his students knew what they were doing too and that coach Rene really cares and takes pride in the fact that everyone knows and is continuing to learn how to actually fight. It was a no brainer for me to join because this gym felt and looked miles better than all the others I previously tried and in a short period of being at the gym Rene and the other students have already helped me to winning gold at multiple bjj tournaments. 100% would recommend this gym to anyone who actually wants to learn how to fight.

Rafael Argenas: Rene Dreifuss is a one of a kind coach with an open mind. He’s studied martial arts across the world and molded his own style to create the most effective outcomes in self defense and mma cage scenarios. I’ve trained in many gyms and RadicalMMA is levels above.

YouShubes: Loved coach Rene's attention to basics. Some of the concepts were really eye opening. Look forward to training here again

Scott Panasci: I don’t typically write reviews, but without exaggeration, Radical MMA has been such a good experience for me as both a fighter and a person that I would be remiss not to share this with others.Rene combines being an incredible fighter in his own right, with being an extremely talented teacher and coach. He brings passion, attention to detail, life experience, innovation and a belief in his students that, without fail, brings out the best in each. He will definitely push you and be honest with you about your performance while always being understanding, safe, and available to skillfully break down or reframe complex concepts to meet you where you are and ensure your understanding.Every student here gets a lot of attention and between Rene’s coaching, his generosity of his time and knowledge, and the academy full of other supportive, driven, and talented fighters, I can say with certainty that if you come here looking to learn how to fight, you will achieve your goals. All that is expected of you is to drop any ego, listen, focus and train as hard as you personally can; the academy will do the rest. It is a great group of people and I feel truly lucky to get to be a part of it.

Juan Perez: Went to radical mma when i lived in new york.. had to move but Rene is a fantastic coach. i often think of the times i spent learning here...def recommended -Koala lol, that was my nickname

Richard Jessie Johnson: Look no further for data driven and battle tested self defense/no rules fighting.By the time I came to New York I knew I needed more than just jujitsu. I spent some time in San Diego training at a well-known school for jujitsu but I noticed that they were very much into sport jujitsu which didn’t do a whole lot for self-defense or fighting in the street. Radical MMA is the real deal. Their emphasis on no rules fighting, competing in sports that allow both grappling and striking, and Renees experience and data driven system of self defense are a truly superior combo. Other schools in the area are catching on but they teach both striking and grappling separately whereas radical integrates everything from the get go. The class sizes are manageable so there’s a lot of one on one attention. Which brings me also to the coach. Renee is the head coach and he onboard everyone who enters his Academy. He truly cares about our development as fighters and people. No hyperbole, his experience, teaching acumen, and genuine generosity are exceptionally rare and more than worth the price of tuition. It’s the most comprehensive system I’ve ever come across and it actually works. Even if I left New York and had to train somewhere else to get partners, I would still defer to Renee and his system. This is New York’s best fighting gym.

Valentine Body Works: and I am very thankful for my MMA journey. Having trained as a boxer for 7 or so years I had no knowledge or understanding of the grappling arts. Looking at myself now I couldn’t imagine training in martial arts without Jiu Jitsu or wrestling. Training at Radical MMA has certainly improved my life and myself as a person!Coach Rene is a highly knowledgeable coach, who has a great sense of humor, is understanding and evolves with his students. I have always appreciated disciplined technique and tactics oriented training and these are just a few of the elements that coach Rene is amazing at! In addition, we train with injury prevention in mind. Professor Rene not only teaches you how to fight, he also helps you learn and understand movement. Every day is a learning journey at Radical. We learn from each other and we improve together! Osu!

Evolution Muay Thai: what do users think?

Adel Hussain: Came here more than 10 years ago, and realized I haven't left a review. The head instructor Brandon is fun, and humorous, and has been the entire time I've trained here. I've seen him handle varieties of situations inside and outside the gym in an exemplary manner, eg. recently he saved some unconscious drunk young fellow from choking out in Korea town. And like this, there are other characters in the gym that are exceptional in other ways. It's nice to be around people who make you want to be better. The other instructors have all competed and are able to give different perspectives to the basics. The fight team's training routine/style has changed over the years as well, its nice to see everything grow over time, and how the new stable of fighters develop. The new location has showers, 2 of them. The gym is remarkable clean and vibrant. Good people and food training.

Gaetano Saladino: I've been a member of countless MMA / Muay Thai gyms and Evolution is by far THE BEST I've been to. There is always a friendly and positive atmosphere, and all members encourage each other to work harder and become more technically savvy. Kru Brandon Levi has a vast amount of knowledge and experience and is with you every step of the way. Deirdre keeps the back end very organized, monthly fees are fair, and booking classes is a breeze.Overall, this is a no-nonsense, authentic Muay Thai / MMA gym that is always kept clean and tidy. Brandon and Deirdre have established a unique atmosphere of respect, hard work, and humility that makes you want to keep coming back for more. Whether you are a serious MMA fighter or someone who wants to get / stay in shape, there is a place for you here. There is simply no place like Evolution. I look forward to all the years of training to come.

Tereza Knihová: I wanted my three training here during my vacation but they told me I ´m not a member of this Gym across the schedule on their web sites for all groups

Juan Sanchez: Evolution Muay Thai is an amazing gym. Kru Brandon is passionate and dedicated but also has a great sense of humor. Brandon has produced very high-level athletes, including UFC competitor and Muay Thai champion Angela Hill . I’ve also seen Brandon transform students whose goals were more health and fitness driven. After a few months of training, some of these individuals looked like different people, healthier, happier, and younger. After I started grad school and stopped training at Evolution, Brandon remained a loyal friend and mentor showing that he genuinely does care for his students. I look forward to training here again someday.

prince bishop: The best place to learn and get into shape. Family environment where everyone learns from each other!

Mariana Aparicio: It's a good place

Dr. Eric Fields: I cannot say enough about this gym - it has changed my life for the better :

Matthew Smith: Best place for muaythai in New york city!

Aki Suzuki: Best Muay Thai Gym in the city. Brandon is a great coach. Chad’s BJJ classes are excellent also.

Tony Gong: . And by the end, I was kicking pads and heavy bag with very decent form.I definitely will come back to Evolution. Any beginner thinking of trying Muay Thai should not hesitate to come to this gym. Everyone here is welcoming.

🔥 NY Best Kickboxing 🔥: what do users think?

John-Anthony Chamness: Payed for a classes ,had to change the date but then I got blocked. No refund, No email, No professionalism. Just blocked without a response or call. Terrible horrible and thieving company and most definitely HOMOPHOBIC.

lauren erin dooley: to no avail have yet to receive any refund or get ahold of anyone. When asked for the owners contact they were hesitant to provide it. Rude is not even the word to describe the way in which the owner replied. Owner handled everything in an unprofessional manner. Will not be going back.

Tunahan Kızılkoca: hello my name is tunahan i am foreign i am turkish i cant speak english much i want to kick box can you help me

Bill Wang: Signed up for a Groupon deal and worked out here for 10 kickboxing sessions. Overall great gym and very professional! Gym is clean and instructors are very friendly. Fitness sessions are beginner-friendly, high paced and a great workout; the intermediate classes are a little slower paced with more focus on technique. There are also kung fu and other martial arts available.

Maureen VanTrease: I love this place! It's not just an amazing workout, it's fight and self defense workshops too! David and EJ are the best!

Ezekiel Zimmerman: and the level of instruction is world-class. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced martial artist, if you are looking to get in shape, to learn real technique or to take your training to the next level this is the place to come in NYC!

Daria Kоbzar: As a member of NY Best Kickboxing for around a year now, I cannot say enough good things about the place, the instructors, and the community. The instructors are motivating, encouraging, and very skilful. They tailor classes and instruction to any skill level. Since I have started I have learned so much. This place gives me confidence and passion for Kickboxing. Can’t wait for the next class.

Risantd: Positive:Quality,Value

Kayleigh Butcher: and have been a member ever since. Love the workouts. Love the lessons in self-defense. Love the other members that go here. And love the instructors. I also wanna give them a special shoutout for making classes and info available during the pandemic - I've always felt as safe and protected as possible during the workouts, inside or outside.

Trevor Sawyers: .

Geena Golon: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value

Gresa Halili: Edit- after having written the review, I received texts and emails in response in which I was accused of lying and of starting “fake drama”, as if I have nothing better to do than make false accusations about this place. I’m posting screenshots to show their “wonderful” customer service. You don’t have to take my word for it, all you have to do is read their responses to any negative review here and you’ll understand the kind of people you’re dealing with.I have over 40 classes with them that I prepaid for. I’ve been trying to call them for several months to figure out when they’ll be resuming their classes. They haven’t replied to a single email, a single phone call, a single message sent on Instagram. If I could take legal action against them I would. At this point, it really feels they’ve stolen my money. I Initially wanted to resume classes with them but now I just want my money back. I spent hundreds for these classes and can’t even get in contact with them. Extremely disappointed in their services.

Michelle Liamero: Update 2019. I can say the same.Best work out in NYC!!!!! I would recommend it to anyone that wants to look and feel their very best!!!!!

Michael Rook: If you want authentic martial arts training, made relevant to the functional demands of the pragmatically minded modern fighter and martial arts enthusiast, you'll find nowhere better than NY Best Kickboxing.

The San Francisco Hung Gar Kung Fu Association: After over 40 years in the martial arts, I count NY Best Kickboxing founder and chief instructor David Ross as an amazing colleague, and a dear, trusted friend. Exemplary in his field, he has traveled the world, training and learning from lineage masters, and great modern innovators alike. This knowledge and experience, and the passion that David Ross has for helping others find their own focus in fitness, traditional, and progressive martial arts programs is no less than inspirational, and will always put David Ross and New York Best Kickboxing at the vanguard!Michael GoodwinChief InstructorThe San FranciscoHung Gar Kung Fu Association

Byron Jacobs: David offers truly skilled teachings in the combat arts including both sport practices such as Sanda as well as traditional practices which he has decades of experience in.

Dr. Troy Schott, D.C.: Whenever I am in New York, I ALWAYS attend classes here. I also follow and subscribe to Sifu David Ross' programs online. He puts out quality content whether you're in person or online.Sifu Ross has DECADES of experience in both traditional and modern martial arts instruction. In addition to quality instruction, I also get an amazing workout that leaves both exhausted and refreshed at the same time. Many times when I come to NYC I attend lengthy and exhausting seminars, and I sometimes don't want to go but I'm always glad I did when I leave. You also CANNOT beat the price especially in Manhattan!!!

Laura DeAngelis: A lifelong fitness fanatic, discovering NY Best Kickboxing in my early 40s was my best find yet. From the warm up through the rounds and right through the very last push up or crunch, my body and mind are put to the test and I always feel like I can conquer whatever a NYC day throws at me after a class with one of the awesome instructors. I can honestly say the classes have helped me be in the best shape of my life - both physically and mentally. If you're looking for a no-frills, no-nonsense workout, look no further than NY Best Kickboxing.

Zarko Academy: The Premier Mixed Martial Arts, Self-Defense and Kickboxing School in Brooklyn: what do users think?

Alex Parx: 💪

Anita Bonacci: Started back in 2000 was transformed beyond my imagination. When I moved away I tried numerous places to stay in shape and none could ever match up to here.

christina: Looking for discipline, weight loss, structure etc for both children and adults.. come join Zarko Academy. First class is only $1.00 and you won’t be disappointed. Ranan is the best out there! Class sizes are perfect and he really devotes his time and patience to each person individually. My son is 5 years old and has a lot of attention difficulties. I have seen such an improvement in less than 6 months. He has learned to control his behaviors more and is more motivated every day!

David Gree: Bad service

Michelle Smith: My son and I have been members of Zarko Academy for about four years. I am a member of the women's kick boxing class and my son is a member of the Little Dragons MMA class. The growth he has made over the past few years in mind and body are indescribable. He has grown stronger mentally and physically with the guidance and coaching of Shihan Raanan. His encouragement and application of his techniques are evident in my son's continuous progress. I myself have had AMAZING results as a steady member of the women's kickboxing classes. With three classes offered daily I am able to attend at least one a day. I never thought I could sweat from exercise until I took my first class. For years I have paid for gym memberships that went to waste. When I actually did go, I spent more than an hour wasting time on random machines NEVER breaking a sweat. At Zarko I get a full body workout in one hour! The atmosphere is friendly. We are a team and support one anothers development, achievements, and successs!!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Alexis Smith: I have been apart of the Zarko Academy family for about six years. My son has learned sportsmanship, discipline, confidence and hard work along with all his Karate moves. Enough so he could earn his black belt. Great place, great experience.

Marleny Perez: The Zarko Academy has taught my son more then I could have ever imagine. He burns off energy while learning self defense. He started at 3 years old and always looks forward to the next class. The instructor is tough, but fair, and extremely patient.

Square Circle New York: what do users think?

Keen Agile: I went to Square Circle for a few years. I came in with absolutely no idea on how to kickbox let alone Muay Thai kickboxing. Not only did I learn kickboxing but I learned Brazilian Jujitsu as well. The instructors in both Kickboxing and BJJ are experienced fighters who professionally have completed in professional tournaments. I have made friends that I still talk to and have stayed in contact with. The school itself is well kept with the equipment and floor being sprayed and sanitized after each class. Cleanliness at a gym is utmost important and, in this facility, you will find it to be very well kept. The atmosphere during class is high energy and friendly. The instructors do an excellent job in welcoming new people and are attentive to their skill level. There is this tight bond that everyone has with each other before, during and after class. Whether you are an experienced kickboxer or have experience with BJJ or you want to learn either one I would highly recommend this school. Its friendly, knowledgeable, clean, the instructors are well experienced and the people who come to train are very diverse they come from all walks of life.

Yulia Malkova: Hostile. Never again.

Oren Malinsky: sparring there are so many ways to improve and learn and I absolutely love it.Kru Rob is an excellent teacher both from his wealth of experience but also his patience to break things down and the intuition behind them.Coaches Janet, Isaiah and Ray add their own unique focuses to their classes and this review is becoming a positive rant but I got nothing but praise for this place. And making it all the easier is that the other people training here are a considerate, funny and supportive bunch that just puts it a bow on the whole thing.I write this review preposterously sore but happy as a clam. Thank you Square Circle!

Alec Roslin: I have been coming to square circle for close to a year now. Great place to improve your fitness learn muay thai and bjj. After training at a coulle other gyms prior I am happy to have found square circle nearby!

jonathan crespo: I've been a member of this gym since 2015. In that time, my gym mates and coaches have become a 2nd family to me. Everyone has helped each other elevate their skills inside the gym and outside in their daily lives through their growth as individuals. The structure and discipline I've been blessed with at Square circle has single handedly defined my 20's into a more well rounded, knowledgeable and understanding person that has been able to give back to my fellow teammates as an assistant instructor, as well as a big brother to the new comers that start their Muay Thai journey here.

Jonathan Viray: I love training here! Kru Rob and all the instructors are very knowledgeable and passionate about Muay Thai. Classes are perfect for students of all skill levels. I'm always learning something new and getting a great workout!

Kamsy Duarte: So I was jumped pretty bad a couple of years ago during the pandemic and since then I saw how the quality of life in NYC has gotten so much worse. Its so very dangerous in these streets, so after much procrastination I decided to join the Square Circle fam. Lemme tell ya, Its been the best decision Ive made for myself and the smartest investment for my life. I started both Muay Thai and Bjj and so far its been awesome. The coaches are very helpful and work with you at your level. The facility is very clean. The other students are awesome and supportive and the environment just feels so safe. All in all I highly recommend anyone to begin their fitness/martial arts journey with Square Circle!

Todd Toler: If you want to learn some cool new skills and meet some great people, this is the place. I’ve been attending courses here for about six months and am already feeling the change. I am much better than I was to begin with and continue to improve. It is far better than riding a stationary bike staring at a wall. All of the people here are wonderful an here to help, there are none of those type of folks who are just there to beat someone up. It is a great environment for learning discipline and respect for the sport, while having a good time and building a team atmosphere. I cannot recommend it any more than I am, I highly suggest you get down there and try it out.

Anthony Benavides: Fantastic gym to train both beginner and advanced muay thai, with an atmosphere that is both friendly and will make you feel challenged. Moreover, regular classes throughout the week help fit every schedule. Hands down best muay thai gym in NYC.

j k: LOVE this gym!! It's a great place to learn muay thai & bjj. Everyone is very welcoming and treat you like family once you step through the doors.
