Kabab Cafe: what do users think?

Lucas Warfield: I was excited for my meal after reading excellent reviews here. The no menu schtick is a trap for the chef to provide inconsiderate service and arbitrary pricing. When I walked in I bought into the romanticization of the chef owner concept.Don’t make that mistake.By the time I left, 2 hours later for 2 small dishes, I’d been served over-cooked, over-seasoned, lazily prepared food in an uncomfortable setting.I was charged an exorbitant price for the displeasure.Worst meal I’ve had in NYC. Due to the chef’s aggressive and rude manners I couldn’t have a conversation with my guest without the chef intruding.I am alarmed by the lack of basic food handling safety. The chef and owner Ali was coughing and sneezing onto the dishes as he prepared them.Bleach and other cleaning products are stored haphazardly adjacent to food prep areas.See attached photo for the conditions of the cooking space and equipment. Due for an inspection ASAP.Do yourself a favor and go to any number of excellent options in the neighborhood instead.

Lucy S: This place ought to be shut down, it is such a health hazard. To summarize:• prices are absurd• no menu, so owner charges what he wants• dirty food prep area• rude owner who uses his old guy “charm” to get away with poor hygiene, slow service and unwelcome advances towards customers〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️The health department should flag this place down. The kitchen is unkempt, the cast iron pan on which the steak was served had a thick layer of carbon that was definitely not foodsafe, and lots of things were being flung around with insects flying around in his tiny kitchen. Plus, bleach and cleaning products were right next to a couple of food containers that he was serving sauces right of. Honestly the worst meal I’ve tried and dirtiest venue I’ve ever seen in all of Queens.〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️I don’t understand what people mean by all the comments regarding Ali’s charm, he was rude to new patrons coming in that didn’t know his restaurant didn’t have a menu, was upset at us for bringing in an outside drink that was pretty much fully consumed, and made me feel uncomfortable as a woman.〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️I wanted so badly to enjoy this place but the food can only be described as “dog food” by me and my partner. Ali dumped old soggy veggies and an already cooked steak into the oven on a dirty cast iron pan. The food came out soggy, overcooked, and covered in miscellaneous spices that seemed as if he had dumped his entire spice collection into. The cauliflower salad was also soggy, too acidic, and was prepared with no caution.〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️I’d avoid at all costs. Leaving this place made me feel sick to my stomach after my meal ended. Never again. Astoria is too rich of a culinary destination to deal with a place like this.

Renata Stare: Went to have dinner tonight and didn’t know what to expect. What a wonderful experience we had. The food was fabulous and Ali was so friendly and passionate about his menu. Would highly recommend but remember to bring cash only.

EV Eye: Good food but way overpriced. $200 for dinner for three in a tiny hole in the wall? Seriously?

Christie Offenbacher: Wonderful conversation and food. Reviewing because I went last night and am distracted at work today, daydreaming about the mezze platter, cauliflower salad and porgy.

George Kao: Chef Ali puts together an amazing dining experience. One filled with delicious foods and entertaining conversations stretching your meal for hours and hours. It’s nice to slow down once in a while and be enjoy being human.

Ahmed Atia: Dirty , smelly 👎🏿 ALI 👎🏿, you sneezed on my food and you cheated me of $35.NEVER AGAIN 👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿MY ADVISE TO EVERYONE : TO WACH WHAT 👎🏿 ALI 👎🏿 DOES TO YOUR FOOD & CHECK YOUR BILL FOR 👎🏿 ALI 👎🏿 CHEATING YOU AND OVER CHARGING .👎🏿

moustafa elminabawy: The best of the best , I fall in love with it , I’m in love in it

Jessica Elias: Definitely an experience. The chef is a character and food is delicious. Try the cauliflower salad!

Conner Kechriotis: to repeatly scold meover and over for the extra work I caused him.Definitely a must try place in the area, but requires a sense of humor to enjoy, and the willingness to tolerate some moody behavior if you catch him on the wrong day

Luke Skywalker: Outstanding! Ali makes even more fun!

Aaruran Chandrasekhar: make the journey.

Samakmak Seafood: what do users think?

Kashif Hassan: Samakmak is an excellent authentic Egyptian seafood restaurant. The quality and quantity of food is amazing and always fresh. I’ve been there with family about three times already and we always love it. My favorite part is how homemade everything is, and how the women cook it with love and care every time. You wouldn’t want to sit there if you’re used to “Fine” dining but the quality and taste of food makes up for it, for sure. I would definitely recommend it at its given price point, and is definitely a place to try!

S: Nothing special, stale food; too much salt and old food.Enjoy reading the 5star reviews and eating 0 ⭐️ foods !!

Tony Fisher: Humble digs with a family owned atmosphere, so be patient while they prepare your food. The shrimp sandwich is amazingFood: 5/5Recommended dishes Shrimp Sandwich …

Mel JL: The fish and the way the shafts roast or pan fry. It is phenomenal. The fish I've tried or the orata & the branzino. They're both cook well and the flesh is still tender and juicy. Well Seasoned dishes that taste very fresh. I enjoyed rice and sauteed eggplant as my sides. Like biting into. It feels like home. The restaurant itself is no frills. The prices are reasonable compared to the quality of food being created in the kitchen.

S K: I’m in love with the grilled shrimp here. I order a fried fish, jumbo grilled shrimp, and the delicious side of eggplant for pickup. The food was very flavorful, fresh and delicious. Not exaggerating if I say it’s the best seafood in the area. I will definitely come here again next time I visit New Jersey. I forgot to mention the great portion sizes and the excellent service and packaging. 10/10

Ahmed gaming: They got the best fish and good fried fish

Horus Cafe on A: what do users think?

heba ali: Amazing place and atmosphere, food really good

Jeremiah Johnathan Noel Antonio Palma: Great place for a quick bite of Mediterranean food

Ani R: in the evening, the waitress was rude to us when we asked to switch to from inside to outside. After giving us an attitude she didn’t come to check on us once.

Huyamun Rashid: They have great mocktails and hookahs. Staff is attentive, establishment is clean, the music could be better but overall it’s a great place. I would recommend it to anyone looking for hookah in the east village.

Drew J (Gradyjelly): Had the house special hookah; the name escapes me but it was coconut and vanilla 😋

Mohammed Choudhry: This place got me through all of nyc. Food and shisha on point.

CarlaSofia Teixeira-Fleming: Excellent Lunch destination! We enjoyed the steak, fries, salad, cocktails, and the dessert menu offers the perfect happy ending 😁

Tidalus: I needed a local place with good labneh. The mezze options are my favorite.

Kea Kenzie: Wonderful service, generous portions, great pricing and delicious food could not ask for more

Tanjeela N: Service was great but quality of food and hookah went down over the years. Food is very basic and overpriced. The hookah was not flavorful and burnt out too quickly. Wasn't worth it. Also, music was weird. Did not match the theme of the restaurant.

MADELEINE: I had the semolina pancakes and fruit, and the shakshouka served with salad.

Albino Cazares: Use to go here like 3 years ago, the hookah is not the same as before. Overpriced now too.

Jasmine Baker: Good hookahs/ dessert / coffee !My husband and I enjoyed it!

Johnny Novokmet: Sometimes, I just need to get out of my 6 x 8 nyc room to get some work done. Recently, my go to spot has been Horus Cafe on A.I typically go when the weather is nice so that I can sit outside and work, as a mix of the sun and people watching helps me gain inspiration.I have grown a strong affinity for the Turkish coffee as I feel like William Burroughs at Cafe Hafa in Tangier writing Naked Lunch.I need to shoutout my guy Aziz as he is always taking care of me!!! I'll se y'all soon.

Teree Lee: Yousef from Turkey gave amazing service and was very attentive. They made great recommendations, was very patient and friendly. Will be back again and highly recommend.

Gaia: Loved the starters at ilili, especially eggplant. Everything was very tasty but quite filling! The restaurant itself is very cute

Abducci K: A great Lebanese restaurant with fresh and delicious Appetizers and dishes to satisfy every taste. Modern interior and friendly staff.Highly recommended!AbducciMontréal QC
