Midtown Comics Times Square: what do users think?

Michel Belzile: If I lived in New York, they would have all my money.

Emmanuel D: Big choice of comics

Viviana Rodriguez: Great with a wide assortment of products, we loved it

Ty Gig: Its a great store, great collection, and friendly service, I love the option of being able to buy signed comics, but if you order online, make sure you dont already have anything you order, because if you try to do a return it will take forever to get the refund, I still haven't gotten mine and it's been going on 2 1/2 weeks now.

Carl Leo: All your comic needsAwesome statues and cool clothes

Louis Motta: The store has a seemingly large selection, but a shocking lack of titles that one would consider essential. Visited yesterday and could not find a single Spider-Man comic. Not worth the hype IMO. If you’re from outside the city, try a local comic shop before coming all the way to Time Square.

Joshua Wilmsmeyer: What a great comic book shop. Perfect balance of comics and figurines. Some t-shirts and stuff too. Prices are fair. A place for a true fanatic as well as a passing fan. They even have some open box and used figurines as well.

Elijah Brice-Middleton: Great selection and the staff are helpful and pleasant

Montasy Comics NYC: what do users think?

Miroslav Uremovic: . She wall taking pictures, calling somebody, talking on the phone for 20 minutes. After 20 min, another employee came, probably from his lunch break, still with a sandwich and a drink in his hands, along with crumbs in his beard and on his shirt. He then asked about the price for my collection, and he didn’t want to offer anything. When I told them I’m open for an offer, they just gave me a stare, and told me they’re gonna pass. Very, very rude, they even wanted to escort me out by showing me the exit, just to get rid of me. Avoid any bussiness with these charlatans. That’s 30 minutes of my life I’m not getting back… shameful treatment.

Steven Agudelo: Great selection of cards!

Ken shibata: Just like what many other reviews are saying the one female staff member is next level rude and unwelcoming. The moment you enter, she eyes you like you are going to steal something. It's a shame because everyone else seems cool enough and the selection is fine, if not a bit pricey but oh boy does she make you feel uncomfortable. I asked to see a graded card from the display and she wouldn't even let go of the card. Like I get it someone might run off with a PSA 9 VMAX worth 30 dollars but you are literally buzzed into the store....where are the criminals running to? Everything of value is behind a case or behind the cashier. You have cameras and you even check ID for credit card purchases....like come on this isn't fort Knox. How fast do you think nerds can run?

Micah Acinapura: They have a selection of new comics, a lot of sports and tcg cards and some other trading cards too. Overall a great store. Btw it’s upstairs you ring a buzzer to get in

C. Ross: The gentleman who helped me with the comics was cool. I can not say the same for the cashier that checked me out. She treated me like a criminal, not cool. I won’t be returning. I will keep my business with Mid-Town comics.

Eric Dalmedo: This comic shop is pretty cool. They had some books I needed that were a few months old and still available for cover price.

José Rodríguez: It has the staples of the day and is very specialized in Magic, they have tables for games and many cards

Rusty Shacklefjord: Honest!

Tan Timothy: Huge variety of tcg from marvels, weiss, sports and pokemon!

Myles Kauffman (MRK): Montasy Comics, a tower of Pokémon and card game stores meant to inspire others with its inspirational value, however. It’s nothing like that, montasy is truly a corrupt and overprices store that is outrageous to sell 50 dollar items for over 200 and a 800 dollar box for over a thousand dollars! They only make money because wall street bozos walk in and drop 5k on baseball cards every Wednesday!

faceless sounds: No highlights. I was cheated out of a box that were only going for 40-74 dollars online for 95 DOLLARS! In hindsight I should have passed but I guess it's my fault for not checking before online

Haejin Kim: UPDATE: still one of the best local comic shop in Newyork. But I am updating it to a 2 star because of the card prices. The were selling disney card joyful card for 95 dollars. I came back home to see none of the online priced are as near to that amount. They actually range from about 40 to 72 dollars, NOT 95 dollars!! I feel cheated and disappointed. Sad but I guess I'm supporting a local business.Original review: Great selection of comic books and cards. I don't find the cards to be overpriced of fake. Maybe I don't have high expectations to begin with the packs lol. But I love the accessibility to it and a card shop in NYC? What?!

Richard Williams: Nice little comic shop that also does card games. I played a digimon locals there and it was cool.

Kobasko: While travelling I do like to visit different LGS to see what they have, and this did not disappoint.Helpful staff and lots of choice.

Cody Feavel: Great selection of cards and great atmosphere.

Lasher M: Worst MtG singles collection and the most convoluted organization.

Sean McKeown: Amazing selection

Midtown Comics Grand Central: what do users think?

Alejandro Peña Molleda: Un sitio ideal para comprar comics, libros y todo tipop de merchandising sobre superheroes

Victor Romero: Good

Andrew Arenas: Got there almost at closing but everyone was still friendly and helpful. Gave my kids some advice on what to get and even how to care for the comics. You can tell they aren't just workers but also true comic book fans. Great selection as well. Highly recommend.

William Morales III: Love it.

Micah Acinapura: I like this midtown comics better than the bigger Times Square one. They don’t have quite as big a selection but they don’t get as many crowds as the staff is really nice

David Doyle: What an aladins cave of treasure fantastic staff highly recommend

Eric Dalmedo: This is my local shop and I come here once a week to pick up my books. Staff is very helpful as well.

José Rodríguez: Todos los Midtown Comics son muy interesantes con muchas figuras impresionantes, coool

Ernest Holman: Nice place

Business type: Comic book store

Metropolis Collectibles: what do users think?

R.K. Shep: Have bought from Metropolis several times over the decades. Found them to be honest & reliable. Their inventory is second to none. Definitely recommend

Eric Heisman: Great place if you want to submit a bid for a comic then have the seller jack up the price.

Ron Fernandez: comics fan! They are an online auction house specializing in some of the greatest pieces I have ever seen. I would recommend for those that have a passion for original art and books that date back to the early to mid 1900’s. The staff are friendly and willing to show the unbelievable framed art and cgc graded pieces they have up for show. But make no mistake, this is truly for the collectors that are looking for investment pieces, or for those that are lucky enough that can buy these beloved art pieces/books with no limits.I appreciated the personal tour by their very experienced and knowledgeable staff, it was truly a fantastic experience I will remember!

Chas Ruby: Well they are not your regular comic shop. But they were kind enough to allow me to look around at a moments notice. It was a fantastic experience and nice to be able to put an office and face to people I have talked to when purchasing a comic.

Anthony Berrios: Was made to feel as if I wasn't welcomed.

Erick Sousa: Visited them but no idea their portfolio. I asked if they have miniatures and recepcionist said "we are not this kind of business".

Ardath Bey: Very professional people, made me feel very relaxed and confident regarding dealing with them, hence I will be interesting several original items with them for auction.

Scott Worthington: Fine quality from the Somers attic

Refugio Banda: Beautiful original and historical art work. Manager was a pleasure to talk with as he was giving us a tour.

Ansel Alice: I was going to bid and pickup since their shipping is inconsistent at best. Remembering my past visits to their office I shudder to think how it is with COVID. Decided to buy elsewhere. Shady at best. Each time I go there’s something skeevy or unsettling. I don’t trust them to ship since it takes beyond forever even though I only live out on Long Island. Whenever I emailed about the gross lateness it’s always responded by a new name. They’re supposedly the biggest in the world, but their office is way too small. Comiclink gets crowded with boxes, but they have the space for it. This place is always a mess with boxes everywhere like it’s run by the Collyer brothers. They have great art on the walls but then you look down. They have outdoor carpeting inside, the 75 cents a square foot kind which is showing its age. One guy was walking around barefoot on it. Legit. No socks. They must have a sky high turnover rate cause there’s always a different receptionist. The selection is vast, and they’re quick to discount prices to get a sale. But I always leave feeling ashamed that I had no choice but to do business there. Oh and then there’s the echo of giggling, my god the giggling.

Amedeo Moscato: Amazing awesome hidden Gem in Manhattan. Great place to buy online and check them out on whatnot.

Christopher Säther: Best place for statues and figures in Europe

Hank Wagner: A visit to their offices should be on every comic book lover's bucket list.

Donnie Simpson: Competitive comic dealers

Martin Muniz: Quick service, Friendly front desk clerk, clean environment.

georgios pirovolikos: Really like this place. Always have nice dealings with them. Friendly receptionists. Find what I am looking for and sometimes work out payment plans to help me get what I want. Have been buyiong and selling with them a few years now.

spanish class prince albert: I purchased a book and pay it, then 2 weeks later they cancelled the order without any reason or explanation.Who lists books they don't have? It's not the first time they do that. Terrible customer service. Very disappointed.

Forbidden Planet: what do users think?

Outlaw Honeybee: They had a great selection of toys and I was very happy because toy Tokyo denied entry 15 whole minutes before close so don’t go there but forbidden was super nice

Michael McGrath (cougaremj): Pretty incredible spot for comic book nerds and collectors.

Kay Z: Fue un poco regular eh ido solamente una vez so no puedo decir mucho no pude encontrar mucho, aparte de funko pop pero talvez vuelva para recalificar y dar una opinión más concreta de todo no pude ver mucho en concreto

Edward Eng: Excellent place. I can always find something each week. Lovr it!

Alejandro Martinez: I love this place

J F: This place only stays in business because of being around many years. It is more for the tourists than for the comic collector. They were once a fun place to go to but now it's just a place to find overpriced toys and you are lucky if you find the comics you want in good condition.

Brodie Kelly: Splendid nerdy dream. Great prices on comics, apparel, souvenirs, and collectibles. Go there. Now. Stop reading this. Go buy comics.

Ruxandra B: Pretty cool place if you're looking for comics and nerdy things. I wouldn't consider it the nerdy Mecca I hear other people calling it, but there's good stuff. It's a bit of a tight squeeze if you're looking around the shelves and there's a lot of people in store. The music was also weird when I went, it was really loud metal which I'm more than okay with, but I could barely hear myself think.

Scott M. Stringham: . I took advantage of their sale section. The employees were friendly and seemed to work there because they loved it.

Currant7: Gamers delight. Graphic novels haven—Knick-knack collector's den. What to see/buy: card/fantasy/role-playing games and decks galore, funko pops, toys, TV and iconic movie merchandise, books, and graphic novels/comics.

HADEZ SHADOWZ: Been going there since I was a kid so imagine

JHU Comic Books: what do users think?

Glenn Loew: Knowledgeable personnel.

Matthew Chiaravalloti: This is one of the better options for a comic shop in Manhattan! Small shop but they manage to have a really interesting stock of back issues. I've found recent back issues here that I've struggled to find other places. They also have plenty of older comics from the 90s, 80s, 70s, and possibly even some older ones. Plenty of trade paperbacks and hardcover graphic novels too.

Cris Ramirez: Cool

Michael Nella: Great place. Lots of new books and good selection of back issues. Staff enjoys talking with customers about trends & general comic knowledge

Luke Anakin: BEST COMIC SHOP IN NYC!!! I love the guys here! The staff is what makes this place so special. I’ve been coming here for years now, the guys who work here know me, know what I like and are always welcoming and friendly. They go out of their way to get special orders, back issues and do what they can for their customers. It makes me happy to have such a great place in the neighborhood where I live. I cannot say enough good things about JHU and staff here. Love them! Please support them.

Jonathan Arnau: I rarely get to visit this place because it is so far out of my way but when I do, they are very welcoming and willing to help if needed. Would totally recommend. very unfortunate if anybody had a bad experience here

Imran Khan: The friendliest staff of any LCS in the city...Nick and Ron are great owners and I always feel welcomed whenever I visit. I do miss the bigger store, but with rents being what they are, I don't blame them. This location is packed with goodies!

Annalise: Found a variant cover I've been hunting for! Recent prices. Knowledgeable and friendly staff!

Carmine Street Comics: what do users think?

RJ Perfetto: Store is closing, was able to pick up $1.00 comics with limited Comics that are left.

A A: This places no longer sells comic books. All it has left is one cheesy box of beat up comics for a buck. This is a book store now.

Dre G.: Awesome spot!

Johnny Zito: Any day I am in the area I stop by, never know what treasure will be found

David Huber: Really nice down to earth staff.

VanillaPastely: Basically no comics except for in a 5 foot square now is partially a physcic reading place and bookstore with random books. Looks like it sadly couldn't support itself. And is basically gone.

Anthony Diaz: Nice little book store but if you are looking for Comics don't waste your trip.

Rand-Tor: A little hectic but still a great place to shop.

Johnny Blaze Rosario: Didn't really have anything I wanted

John Ong: Okay, let's be clear, what I'm rating is not the comic book store but the "Unoppressive, Non Imperialist, Bargain Book Store". That being said, I have a weakness for old fashioned book stores where a lot of the books are old, outdated and out of print but somehow if you look hard enough you'll find a jewel that makes all the searching worthwhile. Also, it doesn't hurt that they have a big selection if spiritual/philosophical themed books

Jorel: I love this comic book shop! For a small store there's a lot to offer. The staff is friendly, helpful and has vast knowledge of comic book history and what latest comic book series are great industry reads. They also put independent comic book creators in the spotlight and host awesome special events. The last book I bought out of their shop was Silver Surfer Requiem. It's a nice addition to my collection. I highly recommend Carmine Street Comics.

Page of Pentacles: It's literallynothing like the website, the store is all cut up for different vendors and it barely a comic shop

Josh Zwi: Disappointing

Desert Island: what do users think?

Fernando Frias: My favorite comic book store in NY! Incredibly well curated and the owner, who is always there, is incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable!

Rob C: Such a gem. You can get indie publications, and it's really apparent they care about the authors and artists.

Alexander DeFrancesca: Best comic book store in New York

Tania Chaidez Ibarra: Their selection is neat. High quality prints from all around the world. All themes, print techniques and sizes.

tommy burke: It's a hidden gem! Just kidding

Mateo Guadalfajara: Great stuff! Not only common graphic novels and comicbooks also cool indie staff

David Quiles: Amazing, support this local zine shop.

Sean Kerrigan: Truly a comic store for comic lovers. If you read fantagraphics, are a fan of European comics and comics auteurs, you like digging into the more obscure indie stuff, Desert Island will delight you. I had the pleasure of attending an event here where the writer of Maus, Art Spiegelman, was present and doing signings. This little store has got a lot of heart and passion for the potential of the medium, which is so often treated unfairly or disregarded in American society.

Dionne Grayson: One of my happy places. Visual stimulation galore!

Miles: Love this place!

Jonathan Hatala: Went with a friend and popped my graphic novel cherry with Sandman. Cool owner. Chats you up if you like or leaves you alone if you prefer. My friend was the former, I was the latter.

Nick Hayward: . The artistic visuals and lively conversation has me wanting to go back and explore their unique collection.

TJ Holmes: Fantastic, eclectic store with wonderful indie and small press stock. Friendly welcome and advice from Gabe. Maroon yourself here!

Mike Spriggs: Desert Island has the best selection of indie comics in NYC. A great offering of new releases, supplemented by select out of print and hard to find books. Friendly, neighborhood vibes make this store a must-visit for any comics fan.

Elizabeth Walker: such a great selection of comics, graphic novels, zines, prints… everything! the shop owner is super knowledgeable and it’s a great place to check out

Philipp Schmitz: Best comic store I’ve ever been to

Ivan Lugo: Amazing collection at an amazing price

Elvins Cruz: A true gem for pop collectors and comic lovers alike. I always end up leaving with more than i can carry and really appreciate the care and service the team gives. Welcoming, friendly and guaranteed you'll walk out with something.

Melissa Ciorciari: Great store but unfortunately I came from the other side of Brooklyn and the web site said it's open and standing in front of the store with the gates down and it's closed. Not even a message on the answering machine. How disappointing to treat customers this way.

Pistolapete816: Watch all the YouTube videos on the shop, big fan. Wife and I were in NYC to see the Met...then went over to Brooklyn to check out the shop! It was great...records, figures, comic books, all pop culture! We were looking for DC pops, to add to our collection, but no luck! Well, could not leave without getting something great!
