New York Chinese School: what do users think?

William: I studied here as a kid but never had success in learning chinese. You cant do three hours or study and know these characters. It has to be everyday for at least an hour or three hours. The Taiwanese association are pretty bad at teaching chinese. They make it very boring. you need a better curriculum with confucius instuit from mainland china. Im a big roc supporter but many chinese and taiwanese kids say that the confucius instuit curriculum is better. I hope they really teach us chinese instead of just being a american tool for chinese kids to assilimate to american culture and lose their roots

Math Debate: Critical:Professionalism,Quality,ValueI remember one of the teachers in this school actually slapped a student for not doing its work.

Jenny Keng: I wish the Chinese teachers give stronger support system to the Chinese living abroad. You realize that people don't really love each other? I have family in New York, but they never respond. I wonder why the Benevolence Association won't help?

Harry: Critical:QualityAs an alumnus of this school, I can say definitively that this was one of the worst parts of my childhood. I was miserable here.

Iris Hoiting Tam: . Online book and audio book is also available online for review & Practice.Distance Learning – Online Zoom Class available. Teachers are already trained in such learning method. Great to know what my girls are learning in Chinese class.Recommend NY Chinese School to Friend : Yes.My Experience – we are a Cantonese family. We live in Connecticut, about 1 hour 30mins

Tove Jong: All my children attend this chinese school since kindergarten for more than 6 years. This school follows a standard academic for each grades with experienced and sincere teachers not like other chinese school. I think they do learn something even though they only attend once a week for 3 hours. They received certificates for graduation and every year they get report cards so you know how well/bad the student does. I am not a strict Asian mom that forces my children to excel in Chinese so having nice teachers are a plus to avoid my children from annoyed or disliked Chinese.

Shu Ping Rong: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueThe New York chinese school on 62 Mott st lead by principal Jennifer Wang is a excellent school for my two kids Carson and Emerson . They been going here since 3-4yrs old . Principal Wang leadership is tremendous. Highly recommended school

hopson: Critical:Professionalism,Quality

Z Z: Changed a lot since new principle got here, it’s a great place now

Vanessa Rome: i justnhad a dream about this place

P W: The staffs are not reaponsive with lack of securities. The teachers are not flexible and they are not appropriate for any people who didn't start from kindergarten. It should be categorized based on beginner, intermediate, and advance for each grades but it is not. They are understaff and not as organized as it should given the fact that they have been around for such a long time. Very disappointing 😔.

YOME ZENG: This is a great Chinese school. My children are really love to go here. In this year, both the faculty and the environment have great improvement.

Rickey Zheng: This school is limiting our rights. We are older kids and we are not allowed to go on our phones during break making no sense. They re limiting our rights when they take our time to play. They don't provide us wifi so why

Jc Bourbon: You feel as if you're in public school, classrooms, classmates, homework, report cards, contests, graduation ceremony, you name it! I have Ms.Gao, she is incredible!! Next week is the last day of Chinese School, coming back in September as a 5th grader!

Sishu Mandarin Chinese Language School: what do users think?

Alan Rempel: I learned a lot from Sishu Mandarin. I wanted to communicate with friends in their native language and this company really helped. The teachers here are excellent at de-mystifying the nuances of the Chinese language.

Kaylin Massar: Definitely one of the best tutoring experiences I’ve had! 😊 Extremely friendly and accommodating

Margarete Maneker: I've been taking lessons at Sishu Mandarin for over a year, and it has allowed me to keep up with my language skills in a way that aligns with my busy lifestyle. I've had fantastic teachers and cannot recommend Sishu enough!

Calvin Mei: I did the 15 class package with Sishu Mandarin. I came in at around HSK 3ish level, and I thought the lessons were really useful. I feel I've improved my speaking skills from when I started and have a better understanding of many grammatical concepts. I'm very thankful to my instructor Lingjie - she is patient, friendly, and overall just great at explaining things. I'm amazed at how much I learned from her in a relatively short period of time.I would definitely recommend Sishu Mandarin if you are interested in improving your Chinese skills, regardless of which level you are starting from.

Oscar Puig: Sishu is a great way to learn Mandarin. Super friendly, focused, structured and very very patient. I'm very happy with my teacher. Mandarin is tough and she makes it easier for me to learn. Really good school!!!!!

Julie Geng: Excellent Mandarin school with extremely friendly, accommodating, and genuine teachers and administrators. Highly recommend.

Brionna Bell-Scotton: for a local school that taught Mandarin and came across Sishu Mandarin by chance. I took a look at the reviews, and looked at the website for a couple of days before deciding to take a free trial lesson to see if I would enjoy it. I was contacted by the founder of the school, Tian, almost immediately and set up the free lesson for a week later. We met, and immediately I felt as though Tian was very kind and patient and I thought that someone who felt passionate about teaching others would employ others who felt the same. I made my decision to book a class package within 48 hours and I'm incredibly happy I did. Sishu has different class packages available; from 15 lessons to 60 lessons with the option to be remote/online or in person, and while it seems a little pricey, it's definitely worth the money. I've been learning mandarin for almost 3 months now and I have been enjoying every lesson so far. I really like the teaching style and since I booked the private online lessons

Virtually “Alex” Beige: Just had my first lesson, which was amazing. Knowledgeable& really patient teachers. I will definitely be extending beyond my 15 lessons!

Aurelia Hall: The Sishu Mandarin Chinese Language program is a breath of fresh air! After visiting Taiwan with no Mandarin skills, I instinctively downloaded Duolingo, which helped jump start my vocabulary, but left a huge gap in foundational grammar, feedback, and interactive learning that led to my introduction to the Sishu Mandarin program via a Meetup class with lead instructor, Tian Zhou. The online class was a productive hour with an intimate group of students and instructors that focused on a challenging but accessible topic with drills and real world applications. The format of seeing everyone’s faces and everyone having a chance to speak and participate in the lesson while reviewing a shared screen of instructional text in Pinyin/Chinese characters gave the feel of being in a live classroom with the convenience of meeting online. Tian was also attentive and patient in answering all of our questions. I’m confident that Sishu Mandarin will help me meet my language goals. I’m looking forward to the online cultural celebrations, as well.

Ally Nicoll: with some wonderfully deep and well thought-out name suggestions. It was obvious that a LOT of consideration went into these names - each one tied back to our family history in some way, and was expertly explained, with examples of famous Chinese namesakes.Tian was wonderful to deal with; extremely helpful and knowledgeable. A fantastic experience; I feel that I've received a name with great personal connection, and am very grateful to everyone at Sishu Mandarin School.

elizabeth schwartz: I have really been enjoying the on-line Mandarin classes with Sishu Mandarin. The teachers are very encouraging and patient. There is a different topic each time dealing with everyday expressions and vocabulary. I have learned a lot from Sishu Mandarin.

Ty Vin: Love the Meetups! Teachers are wonderful, personable, patient and kind. Lessons are practical and easy to follow. Glad I found Sishu Mandarin!

Amir Rahimov: I've been taking an online zoom class with Sishu school. I'm a complete novice and they helped me resolve my fears towards Chinese language. Recommend for beginners and possibly mid grade.

Marjorye Alday: I was surprised when I saw on their website that they offered a free 1 hr beginner class. It was great to see the teacher, see how they formed the tones, and have them hear and correct you. They had a great vibe, were punctual, organized and enthusiastic. I will be joining again on future classes and will recommend Sishu Mandarin to my friends interested in learning mandarin chinese. I’m also looking forward to trying out one of their online packages as well.

Ali Yonadab: Thank you for your help! you are excellent teaching Chinese, I’m keen on because I found this! Definitely I recommend this academy

Light Blue: I've been teaching Chinese for more 10 years, I have been working in different institutions and schools, Sishu Mandarin is one of the places that I really enjoy working at. Staff are really supportive, and students are amazing!

Eva R. Y.: My experience learning Mandarin here has been awesome & I really appreciate the flexibility & quality of the online lessons with our teacher! Just signed up for more!

Yichuan Hu: Best leaning experience ever. Awesometeacher!useful material!definitely recommended!

Calvin Agran: I am a college chinese student looking to improve my speaking and my experience has been great so far!

Chinese Language Academy of New York Wall St.: what do users think?

David Hessen: The CLA program is wonderful! I went in knowing no Mandarin and, after five weeks, feel like I have accomplished a great deal and formed a good foundation for further study. I would recommend this program to anyone interested.

Jim Liang: I am taking Elementary A with Rachel Leu. She explains things well, the class flows well, and she pays attention to her students. She gives feedback when needed. She is patient and encouraging. I would be happy to have her as my teacher again.

Victoria Coleman: I have been taking Mandarin lessons from Rachel Leu these past few months and it has been a revelation. Learning the language went from being almost impenetrable to being actually straightforward. Rachel is not only super knowledgeable, she is also the most patient instructor! She is positive, explains clearly, always answers my questions clearly and she always goes the extra mile when I have a weird question. She also encourages me every step of the way! Always reminding me that I am not the only person that finds pronouncing 坐出租车 challenging! I particularly enjoy her explanations of how characters are formed by breaking them down to individual components. She has helped me recognize, understand them, pronounce them and just enjoy them! My favorite class ever!

Darshanika Guruge: This review is written by my son Nisala who is taking private classes with Ms. Rachel Leu. Rachel is a patient and very friendly teacher who goes beyond the textbook to teach authentic Mandarin. She always takes care to ensure he is using the proper tones which are very important for beginners to grasp. Learning characters is hard, but Rachel helps by explaining the radicals and components. At the same time, Rachel is very encouraging and Nisala doesn't get frustrated. She also sends him notes on each day's class and corrections to homework so he can learn more. Nisala has completed the first textbook, thanks to Rachel's instruction, and hopes to further continue learning with her.

Paul Korol: , and they offer either weeknight or weekend classes. I'm in the weekend class

Viviane Callier: I took Chinese intermediate A & B courses with Rachel Leu. Rachel was a fantastic instructor -- she's always kind, encouraging and helpful while also setting high expectations and pushing students to improve. The small classes make it possible to get a lot of speaking practice every week. I like the structure and pace of the weekly weekend class -- the amount of material covered each week is about right. The zoom class makes it accessible from anywhere so you don't have to be in NYC.

Akil The Hiker: Rachel was patient, knowledgeable, and very pleasant to learn from. She found a way to engage and challenge each person at their own level, while not excluding the rest of the students.Excellent work!!

Jackson Turnbull: . Can't wait to start learning with her again.

E.S. Moody: I truly enjoyed my time with CLA's R. Leu as my teacher for two elementary courses for Mandarin. She is compassionate and understanding, as well as a great teacher. I am looking forward to working with her again in the future as I expand my knowledge of the language!

Katie Sicking: Rachel always kept class fun and engaging! These classes really jumpstart your mandarin and get you on the right track super quick. Before I started here, I had been half-heartedly futzing around with duo lingo and other language learning apps, but really nothing can beat the immersion that you get from a real class and practicing with your classmates, so go do it!

Trek “Trek” Martin: The teacher is really enthusiastic and works hard to match the students. Regular emails and Updates and homework and it's all very well organized. A+

Justin Paxton: . I would highly recommend CLA and the program for several reasons.First, the company ensures a small class size with up to 6 people, which gives an opportunity for each student to practice their Mandarin during class and get immediate feedback.Second, the teachers make the classroom experience fun and engaging. Our teacher, Rebecca, has been fantastic in pushing us outside of our comfort zone and creating a fun, interactive virtual space to learn. She takes the time to correct students and make sure they are truly learning and understanding the material.Third, the structure of each session is at a good pace for working adults. Each week we focus on one module that has roughly 20-30 new words and a practical theme

David Caughlin: I have just finished Beginner Level I Mandarin Chinese at Chinese Language Academy with Rebecca Chao Wang and immediately registered for Level II. We have been studying online and it has been an excellent experience. The student/teacher ratio is just right, the pace of the course is very good, and Rebecca is an amazing teacher. I have studied within several language courses and this one is by far the best I have encountered. I highly recommend it.

Wang Thong Huat: I just finished my study in Advanced & Proficient Classes last week with Ms. Evy via zoom in private class. These were excellent courses with attentive learning. CLA is the best for Chinese Mandarin study and highly recommended. Thanks to Ms. Ysabella and Ms. Evy.

Barry Glover: I have been studying Chinese Mandarin for the ten years, and although, given the length of time I have invested in this endeavor, I was unsatisfied with my progress. Throughout Manhattan, and parts of New Jersey, I have enrolled in many Chinese Mandarin courses, hoping to find a course that could address my concerns. As a former educator, I have always regarded efficient and effective pedagogy with high esteem, and I was fortunate enough to have found these educational qualities at the Chinese Language Academy of New York. Furthermore, under the intensive and challenging guided instruction of Rebecca Wang, my speaking, listening and reading comprehension skills have surpassed my own expectations.During class, Rebecca engaged me in thought provoking discussions germane to the lesson’s topic. She introduced me to additional new vocabulary and idioms which helped me to have a greater appreciation for Chinese culture.I truly believe, my satisfactory personal growth as a student of theChinese Mandarin language and culture would not have been possible without Rebecca Wang ‘s patience, trenchant insights, and superb pedagogical skills. I am very grateful to have had this opportunity to study with her at the Chinese Language Academy of New York.Barry

Benjamin Steinert: than I ever could have alone, because I had to focus quite intently on learning/practicing during each session. I definitely would recommend.

Jesse: I recently completed the intermediate level course with CLA. Our teacher was Rebecca. Given the pandemic, the course was taught via Zoom but the instructions and lessons were engaging and effective. Rebecca was attentive to all students in the class and helped each student overcome their obstacles. I would recommend CLA to anyone with an interest in learning or improving their Mandarin!

Stephanie Gootman: I took the CLA 16 hour crash course in Mandarin. I learned so much in such a short period of time! Rebecca was an amazing and attentive instructor. She always made sure the class was fun, but also made sure that her students understood the core concepts of grammar and pronunciation. I loved the CLA crash course so I decided to continue on and take additional courses with to continue learning Mandarin. I definitely recommend everyone go through the CLA in NYC program if you are a beginner and are looking for a high quality class with an amazing instructor!

Sara Crayne-Dedrick: introduction course is both intense and well paced. If you’re lucky enough to get Rebecca Chao Wang as you’re instructor, you’re in for a real treat. She goes at the pace of her students while also offering an encouraging push. She is very patient and has found a wonderful balance of structure and fun! I cannot wait to continue my studies with this school.

Peter Raymond: If you like small class structure and individual attention from the instructor, then you will really like CLA's Chinese language instruction programs. I've taken three classes so far and signed up for a fourth. The pace is fast but reasonable and like any language, it takes time and effort to learn. But the instructors are excellent, the text books very good and class participation an important element in learning. Rebecca Chao Wang was my most recent instructor and will teach my next class. She does a terrific job working with students at different levels of capability within the class and in keeping the learning interesting, fun and relevant
