City Brew Tours NYC: what do users think?

Joseph Randazzo: Listen up, there's a lot of companies out there. You can get a brewery tour in most cities of our great nation. But who compares to Jonathan? No one — that's who. He demonstrated expert-level wisdom of the individual beers as well as the brewing process. Jonathan masterfully matched each member of our party to their favorite beers. He did so with an unmatched level of humor and knowledge. If there's anyone at City Brew Tours NYC who deserves a raise, it's Jonathan. Did you know that Jonathan is a certified Cicerone? Seriously, if there is an upper level management position available, do not hesitate to hire Jonathan. He was cordial, kind, and knowledgeable. This was, hands down, the best brewery tour I've ever been on. And I've been on many. My appreciation for the craft beers of NYC has gone up tenfold due to Jonathan's incredible body of knowledge and nuanced storytelling, incorporating both relevant history and unbridled fun. Also, Jonathan is an avid fan of ska music and film. What a cultured gentleman All I hope is that more groups can be paired with such an expert level guide so their experience can be as wonderful as ours. Cheers to all who support this company and the premier guide Jonathan! Give this man a raise!

Malte von Wildenradt: We visited three breweries and tried many different beers. Our tour guide Camden explained us a lot about brewing and was very nice.I can definitely recommend the brewery tour through Brooklyn!

Lena Edeler: I had a good time on the brewery tour of Brooklyn. Our tour guide Camden was pleasant, entertaining and took good care of our group. The beers we got to try were delicious!

Athena Pappas: Great beer tour! Jonathan was an excellent and knowledgeable guide.

Paula Carter: Chris and I had a great time. Cameron was super fun!!!

Mohamad Nayal: Great tour! Max Walker was very knowledgeable and super chill!

Liv Datre: Camden continuously impressed us with his knowledge throughout the tour! He was flexible, charming, charismatic, and knew the answer to every question. There were two separate groups on our tour and thanks to Camden’s lead, we were all friends by the end of the night. 10/10 recommend!!

Shawn Nichols: Had a great albeit chilly time tonight. Our guide, Camden, was hilarious, knowledgeable and attentive. I thought I hated beer but found 1 I really liked. He was able to give me more information so I know what order when out in the city. 5 stars!

Firebird TA77: Had a great tour with our guide Max Walker, who had a great knowledge about all sorts of different beers and brewing. The variety of beers we tasted was also excellent and included all sorts of different types of beer.

Kevin Eisenzimmer: Andrew did a great job on the tour of Boston Breweries!!!

mrsroleary: The tour was great, our Host Max was so knowledgeable about not just beer but history. Such a fun tour. Thanks Max!!

Jon Black: I really enjoyed the City Beer Tour with Maxwell Walker! Max was very knowledgeable and witty.I enjoyed learning about the history of beer. Thanks, Max!

Greg Truss: Our tour guide Eddie was very knowledgeable and informative. We had a great time on our beer tour of Brooklyn. I would not hesitate to book another of the City Brew Tours in another city.

Arlene F: Jonathan was my tour guide. He was very knowledgable and definitely made the experience fun and informational. You can tell that he knew the brewing process intimately and was able to explain it in layman terms. The beer selection was varied but he made sure that you also got to taste beers in and out of your comfort zone. I highly recommend this tour.

Oscar Alonso: Great time. I’m involving into this world of micro beer and doing this tour gave me an idea of which beers I prefer. Now I won’t be intimidated when I walk into a brewery. The beer guide was excellent kudos to him did a wonderful job explaining the brewing process when inside the brewery with all the equipment. The tanks are enormous. My only issue was with traveling from breweries to breweries. Quite a distance walking wise and the second issue is the beer guide should have a speaker or a small microphone so he can just talk and not have to talk to reach everybody in the group as they tend to spread out during the tour. I would highly recommend this tour. Two thumbs up. Thank you.

Rahul Aitch: was a ton of fun. Went for a bachelor party. Max Walker was such a great tour guide! Wealth of knowledge, fun time hanging out, and curated an amazing tasting selection throughout.

Rebecca Quezada: Max Walker was a very knowledgeable and fun tour guide. We did the queens tour with him and he made it such a fun experience! Thank you so much Max!

Big Onion Walking Tours: what do users think?

Maurice Isserman: In the spring of 2023 I had the great good fortune to go on a weekly basis on a total of nine Big Onion walking tours, along with the students enrolled in my college seminar that semester devoted to New York City history. These included, in the sequence we followed, Revolutionary New York, Immigrant New York, We Built New York, Historic Harlem, Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge and Heights, Chelsea and the High Line, Lower East Side Food Tour, and Brooklyn, Dumbo, and Vinegar Hill. Each was well-led, engaging, enjoyable, and informative. Taken together, they helped us understand three centuries of the incredibly vibrant and important history waiting to be uncovered in the cityscape of Manhattan and Brooklyn. I truly believe that when my students go to their fiftieth college reunion, a lifetime from now, and reminisce about what they remember from those long-ago days, the Big Onion tours they took together will stand out in memory as one of the highlights of their undergraduate experience.Maurice Isserman, Professor of History, Hamilton College.

Linda McLean: We very much enjoyed our historic Harlem walking tour with Assad. He is obviously very knowledgeable and also kind. What a great way to learn some history of the area. I would highly recommend this tour.

Juliana P: Fantastic tour- informative, engaging, and delicious! Really appreciate that Big Onion hires guides who know their stuff as history grad students or early career historians!

Eugene Gorman: Excellent guide

Donna Manburg: A great walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and into Brooklyn Heights! Our guide, Alice, was awesome. She was very steeped in the history of the bridge, enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge, and she had a great sense of humor. In addition, we were late for the tour and she was very welcoming, when we joined the group. I highly recommend the tour guide, Big Onion, and doing a historic walk over the Brooklyn Bridge.

Philipp: I had a very knowledgeable guide. Thank you to Lance. Nice concept and worth the price

Juliana Ferrone: Great Five Points Tour. Wonderful explanation, clear and informative! Thank you, will do more of them.

Bonnie: Excellent organization with terrific tours! Very knowledgeable guides. Recommend even to NYers.

Liz Kaufman: Had the greatest tour of Harlem with our guide Asad on MLK Day - what an inspiring way to celebrate the holiday! He was knowledgeable, interesting and entertaining - we learned so much - and we're native New Yorkers!

Darien Williams: Asad was the most incredible, thoughtful, and engaging tour guide I’ve ever had! Big big big kudos to him and I’ll be recommending my friends to y’all and specifically to sign up for more of his tours. I learned so much and had a great time.

Mochling Moochie: I attended the Immigrant New York tour yesterday with my teenage son. We were enthralled from beginning to end by our guide, Asad. His vast knowledge and engaging presentation style brought back to life the people, events and sites along this two-hour historical walk. I wish we had done the tour at the start of our stay rather than at the end. I look forward to our next visit to NY and the Big Onion.

Marie Graham: Informative, entertaining, and a great gift! Guide was knowlegable, kept a good eye out for questions, pace was comfortable. Our group was maybe 20, equal parts tourist and local. A warm and personal bonding experience on the chilly streets of NY. Already planning our next tour!

Leeshaun Brown: I attended a tour in a large group of university students, Asad was a perfect tour guide, who eloquently explained the history of New York and it's current state too. I would heavily recommend him, and Big Onion Walking Tours to anyone who either visits or lives in NYC!

Maria Pyaterneva: We had a wonderful experience in Greenwich Village last week with the Big Onion tour. Adam is an excellent tour guide. Our students were very happy! Thank you!

Efrosini Drimoussis: Excellent, informative and engaging presentation by Justin on this Lower Manhattan tour. Refreshing change from more typical tourist tours. Definitely will check your schedule out next trip..highly recommend.

Wendy Stanley: on the bridge from the vendors along the way, which made it perfect and very New York. Both were delicious and helped make the experience. I was impressed with this tour company and can't wait to use them again the next time I'm in NYC. I had a great time. You'll enjoy it. The guides are very knowledgeable and are historians/teachers/professors but fun and flexible.

Jeanette Emmarco: Love this tour company. The guides are PhD's with a ton of information and passion. So great.

Barry Judelman: As usual, another outstanding tour from the Big Onion! I took the Harlem tour and it was fabulous: informative, comprehensive and totally enjoyable. The guide was excellent with a commanding knowledge of the history of Harlem and a fantastic way of “telling” wonderfully interesting stories, making the entire tour lots of fun too!Highly recommend.Barry Judelman

The Best of Brooklyn Food and Bus Tour: what do users think?

John Deines: Our tour guide, Laurie, was very personable and knowledgable. The tour was very interesting, especially with the history provided by Laurie as we traveled the borough and stopped for food tastings. Moody, our driver, did a nice job navigating the busy streets of the city and lending a hand as we exited the Sprint bus. NY Food Tours, as always, did a fine job in organizing the tour. I remain very impressed with their outstanding tour guides.

Brenna Sadler: Wonderful tour with Laurie! Learned so much and enjoyed some wonderful treats. Highly recommend!

Andrea Brown: provided a delicious sampling of foods and desserts representative of the areas. Again, highly recommended.

maycanteven: My tour guide Stephanie was great and her energy was amazing! Loved all the food stops as well. Highly recommend!

Nancy Duvinski: Excellent. It was more than we expected. Laurie is a wealth of information and fun to be with. We would have loved this tour even without the delicious food. The limo bus was clean and very comfortable. The driver was amazing, getting in and out of places with ease. We felt safe in his capable hands. There were six in our group and we agreed we would love to take another tour with you.

Mallorie Gran: We had amazing time on this tour with our tour guide Rick! I’ve done one other food tour of Brooklyn years ago and this one definitely topped the other. Loved learning about some different neighborhoods and seeing more of Brooklyn itself. The stops we made were all so good! The bus we rode on was super comfortable and truly the tour was great for any age. Rick was very enthusiastic and you could tell he really enjoys not only talking about the culture and food, but enjoys meeting new people! I will highly recommend this tour to anyone else that I know who will be visiting this fine city!

Christina Shocklee: . Our guide Laurie was very personable and informative, and we loved the food at every stop. Very grateful we did a bus tour as it was the one day on our trip that it rained! And it was fun observing the neighborhoods as we drove between stops. Would highly recommend booking with these folks.

Dave Pritchard: Exceeded my expectations

RAY LOFFREDO: Laurie was incredibly informative and every food stop offered delicious items. They were places we would not have gone to but for the tour and will go back

Sari Kaufman: Very fun experience overall! Very tasty food at each of the six stops- especially the pierogies and pizza. Laurie was extremely knowledgeable about the city’s history and was clearly enthusiastic/passionate about her job. Our bus driver also did a wonderful job of getting us safely around the city and navigating the challenging streets. Our only qualm would have to be the size of the samples for the price paid. Even though there were several stops, we were limited to quite small samples at most of the stops considering the hefty price tag. But having a very knowledgeable tour guide and transportation around all of Brooklyn also come at a cost, so I can somewhat understand where the high price came from. Nonetheless, it was a super fun experience overall, and you’ll definitely enjoy yourselves if you decide to book. Highly recommend walking the Brooklyn bridge back into Manhattan at the tour’s conclusion. Really cool vibe. Thanks for the great time, Best of Brooklyn!
